I object to Dalton Power Project MOD 1. The pollution this project will cause to Dalton and the surrounds is unethical to say the least.

I wish to lodge my objection to AGL's proposed extension of time for the commencement of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW. AGL has not provided sufficient cause for extension.

The Department of Planning has noted AGL's appalling community consultation.

AGL has not supplied adequate time for an appropriate response.

AGL will rely on an outdated Environmental Assessment that ignores a population of endangered Southern Pygmy Perch in Oolong Creek less than a few kilometres from the proposed construction.

This is a new proposal and needs a new assessment. AGL received its original approval under legislation repealed in 2011. By repealing this legislation, the NSW Government acknowledged corrupt and unfair practices, such as undisclosed political donations made during the assessment of the original Dalton proposal and for which AGL have been convicted and fined. The original assessment and approval are tainted by that conclusively determined corruption.

In two years' time a gas-fired generator may well be obsolete and, if built, a stranded asset. This proposed development is at odds with the electricity market now and in the future.

I strongly object to the agl power plant .
I have lived in Dalton for over 60 years and seen a lot of people come and go. this town now is growing constantly with new homes and properties being sold to many people from the cities who love the peace , quiet and the beautiful country side. if agl goes ahead this will be all destroyed and we will be another failed project like urinquinty. believe me none of this community want that. the noise, pollution, view and our water ways such as the oolong are all worries. especially with the new pygmi perch found in the oolong creek . they lie and have been done for contributions to political parties so why and how can they be trusted.
the lack of communication has been 0 over the past almost 5 years until now.
we live in an earth tremor zone on a fault line which I would think would be another issue.
gas line is 40 years + old and well over its use by date.
there is a lot of heritage to this town and important places people visit.
water is another issue for us as the water we have now is not great and the pollution to our tanks would cause cancer is what we have been told due to the cemicals.
our roads are bad enough and will only get worse with the amount of traffic and delays to the lots of people who travel to work daily.

I wish to lodge my objection to AGL's proposed extension of time for the commencement of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW. AGL have not provided sufficient cause for extension.

The community distrusts them. This has been acknowledged by the Department of Planning who noted AGL's appalling community consultation.

AGL have not supplied adequate time for an appropriate response.

AGL will rely on an Environmental Assessment that is 7 years old and does not include recent discoveries including the population of endangered Southern Pygmy Perch in Oolong Creek less than a few kilometres from the proposed construction.

This is a new proposal and needs a new assessment. AGL received its original approval under legislation repealed in 2011 after a corruption scandal that brought down the then NSW government. By repealing this legislation, the NSW Government acknowledged corrupt and unfair practices, such as undisclosed political donations made during the assessment of the original Dalton proposal and for which AGL have been convicted and fined. Hence it may be argued that the original assessment and approval were made under a defective head of authority which does not provide a legitimate basis for the project.

The rate of development of battery and alternative generating technologies is such that in two years' time a gas-fired generator may well be obsolete and, if built, a stranded asset.

AGL would appear to be pursuing a flawed and obsolescent if not obsolete business model. The whole-of-life cost of this project to the government and citizens of NSW may be an impediment to growth in this state. This proposed development is at odds with the electricity market now and in the future.

Finally the construction of this power plant will close down the business of Vince & Janet Heffernan at "Moorlands" Dalton who supply me and my family lamb. I object to this loss and this destruction of their business.

Thank you

Dear Sir,
I am opposed to the Dalton Power Project seeking an extension to the lapse date.
I am a resident of Dalton which will be severely affected by the proposed gas power plant which is to be built by AGL, approximately three kilometers from the township.
These types of operatios emit large quantities of toxic gases which can only have a detrimental effect on the health of locals, as well as livestock and native flora and fauna. They also create earth vibratons which can be felt up to ten kilometers away. AGL's statement that it wishes to take new technology into account only serves to exacerbate my fears.
Besides the afore-mentioned factors, there will also be a detrimental effect on property values as nobody will want to purchase property in such a hostile environment. This is already having an effect as I know of people who have cancelled, or put on hold, plans to build a house. These people made plans following AGL's suspension of the DPP, some with no knowledge of the project while others believed it was not going to be built.
I would also object to the haste with which AGL is trying to push this project through. I neither saw nor heard any publicity whatsoever concerning this proposal and only became aware of it via the local grapevine. AGL has not consulted with the community since the announcement to suspend the project in 2012, and in a democratic society this is not the way it should have been handled.

Dear Sir,
I am writing to oppose the Dalton Power Project seeking an extension to the lapse date.
I am a resident of Dalton which will be adversely affected by this gas power plant to be built by AGL and located some three to four kilometers from the township.
My objection is based on the impact this gas power plant will have on the Yellow Spotted Bell Frog and Southern Pygmy Perch fish in the Oolong and Blakney Creek areas. These two species were found in the Dalton area in the last few years (after October 2013).
It takes little imagination to understand what an impact the toxic gases to be emitted into the atmosphere, will have on the breeding program. The Blakney Creek and Oolong Creek breeding program is being run in conjunction with local landholders with the aim of restoring the habitat required for these species to survive.
If AGL is allowed to build this monstrosity, where does that leave the landholders who have become involved in this project? These people have spent a lot of time, effort, and money on undertaking re-vegetation via direct seeding and tubestock; fencing to protect existing members of the two species; providing livestock with alternative means of water to avoid their accessing the streams, as well as controlling invasive species - all done to protect these endangered aquatic species.
At a gathering in Dalton in March 2014, two of the reasons given for the decline of these species were thermal pollution and water extraction. How will these species increase if AGL proceeds with their air pollution and using the enormous amounts of water necessary to run this power plant???
The Southern Pygmy Perch and the Yellow Spotted Bell Frog may "only be fish and frogs" to AGL but rest assured, their lives mean as much to them as our lives mean to us.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to lodge my objection to AGL's proposed extension of time for the commencement of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW.

My concern is for the agricultural sector(farmers) in and around Dalton who not only have their families to think about, but also supply Canberra and the region with fresh produce.

A gas plant of this nature, no matter how many safe limits of pollution they appear to tick, cannot possibly have a positive impact on the surrounding environment and people living in the area.

It is surprising that this plant is even being considered when the costs of clean renewables are fast closing in to parity with fossil fuel energy. For a short term boost to the local economy and jobs, is it really worth it, considering the long term ramifications of effects on health, the environment, and the rich farming land it will occupy.

I ask you for once to make a decision for the long term and ignore a company whose sole aim is to make profits - not look after the people of the land. This is you and your Minister's responsibility and should be taken as the priority over short term gain.

As a nation with limited arable land, we should be protecting as much of it as possible.

I hope the extension is not granted and the farmers are allowed to continue on doing what they have been doing for generations.

Regards, Matt Hine

I object to AGL's Application to extend the lapsing date of the approval for the Dalton Power Project by 2 years. AGL has had 5 years to decide whether or not it wants to proceed with the project. At no stage during that 5 years has it consulted with the community or indicated that it might be applying for an extension of time in which to further consider or amend the project. The Dalton and Gunning communities have lived with uncertainty about the power station for 5 years and it is completely unreasonable to expect them to have this hanging over their heads for another 2 years.

I implore you not to grant an extension to AGL's application.
I ask you to give greater consideration to the individuals who love their lives, who have lived & worked in the Villages & on the farms around this proposed construction site for generations. Many who have watched their parents & grandparents face hardships of huge proportions with droughts, fires & other natural disaster yet slogged away so that their children could have a decent quality of life. Then there are those who have moved here later because they fell in love with what was on offer,a fresh clean environment, a slower pace of life, a tranquillity & beauty which is sought by so many but is getting harder to find due to what has been sacrificed to "progress".
I oppose to the extension based on AGLs total lack of communication in anyway with the general public around Dalton & Gunning over the past 4years, even though Mr Bean implies otherwise.
I oppose to the extension being granted for so many reasons of my own, I was born here, I left for many years & I came home 36years ago & raised a family here where now my grandchildren love to visit .I help my husband operate his 3rd generation family business which his father & grandfather ,both Dalton men worked tirelessly to build up.
I see the sadness etched on peoples faces & hear the disappointment in their voices as they prepare again to face this next wave of propaganda from the AGL spin doctors who try to say what they think we want them to tickle our ears with but the trust is not there. These residents are not fools but they are tired, tired of battling for their way of life, they've exhausted themselves in so many ways, some even financially to try to save this little piece of what is paradise to us. Please don't grant this extension, please send AGL back to the drawing board to rethink this whole proposal & let these people, myself included have some closure on this current issue

I am opposed to the AGLs extension ( MP10_0035 MOD1) being granted because I find it hard to believe that AGL would be spending all this money on a Power Plant to only run at peak times, it would not be a viable investment for them, it just would not pay. So I believe they must have some future plans to run it full time so as to make a return on their huge investment.
The big problem with AGL for me is that I can't trust them because the last time we went through all of this , whenever they were asked a direct question they would never give a straight answer. Furthermore, I oppose because if this is going to be so clean & noise free that it can be built on top of a small Village as AGL are claiming, then why not build it closer to Sydney where they need it for their peak times? The truth is that they would never be allowed to build so close & risk so many peoples health but yet it's OK to build on top of a small but very well established community, perhaps because with them not having as many votes they are not as important to the politicians care about.
With the Gas prices & shortages etc., is building this plant the answer ? & if it is then please can it built where it doesn't wipe out an entire small community. Thank you for taking the time to read my submission as this is very important to me
