We are writing in regard to the M4-M5 Link MOD2.
We are long term owners in Rozelle/Lilyfield. (We are on the border.) We purchased our house in 2000. We are older Australians (64 and 74) and purchased due to the community feel, proximity to the city, the public transport and general walkability.
We believe that the changes to the original plan are detrimental to our quality of life, in particular the noise that will come from moving the underpass to an overpass.
This will significantly increase noise for us and for all using the green areas that are in the plan.
We recommend:
1. Revert to the underpass from the Crescent.
2. If it really is not possible, then excellent sound barriers and soundproofing underneath the road are very critical.

I am objecting to the proposed changes because
[1] pedestrians from the Green Bridge or from west of Johnson Street will have to cross four roads and 10 lanes of traffic to go to the park rather than one road and 5 lanes as is presently the case.
[2] there is insufficient storage for vehicles going north in Johnson Street to the park at the intersection with The Crescent.
[3] There is no route for southbound cyclists from the concrete plaza on the Green Bridge, as the remainder of the bridge is marked as a pedestrian route rather than a shared path on all maps.
[4] The proposed changes will double the traffic which can enter Johnson Street.

I am concerned that the change from being an underpass to an overpass will detrimentally impact the amount of green space in our precinct, the removal if trees impacts the environment, natural shade and wildlife. Also converned about the noise impact which will travel further than if underground, the impact visually and the access for pedestrians being limited.

My key concerns with the M4-M5 Modification are:
● The significantly reduced safety and increased risk for pedestrians and cyclists with removed access over The Crescent to Bicentennial Park and the increased traffic along Johnson Street.
● Being required to cross five sets of pedestrian lights at The Crescent as my option to reach the foreshore from Annandale or from Rozelle light rail stop.
● Removal of direct active links to the foreshore, cutting the community off from the area and the proposed revitalisation of the entire Bays Precinct, including linking the Light Rail and Bus stops to a Ferry wharf and Metro station.
● Urban and landscape design that is being built before a finalised Masterplan for the area.
● Traffic changes that limit movements around the suburb and create further congestion in the local streets of Annandale, Forest Lodge, Glebe, Lilyfield and Rozelle with no planning to deal with these.

My submission is asking RMS and the Project Team to:
● Reinstate the GreenLink connecting communities and green open space from Rozelle to Bicentennial Park.
● Relocate and design pedestrian and cyclist connections that are continuous, safe and direct.
● Design the modification infrastructure and active links in response to the character of the suburbs, the location of the foreshore and it’s potential future development.
● Provide pedestrian and cyclist paths that maximise people safety and do not force us onto busier streets, unsafe concrete plazas and caged walkways.
● Integrate active and direct connections to all active transport – including the future Metro West and Foreshore Ferry Wharf.
