I support this project. The business has been able to implement ideas and initiatives from the workforce to better utilise current infrastructure to be more productive on existing footprint.

This is a sensible proposal. The terminal has developed efficiencies so that they are able to process more volume with the same infrastructure & no increase in negative environmental impacts. Using existing infrastructure more efficiently should be encouraged.

NCIG is critical to the success of the NSW coal fields which are so important in providing employment and livelihoods to thousands of NSW residents. Coal exports fund the Australian economy in a significant way and any sustainable efficiency improvements like this should be celebrated. Through improvement initiatives implemented by its people, NCIG have demonstrated that they can operate at a capacity of 79MTpa with the already existing plant. This potential should be realised in the offer of extra capacity to the NSW coal producers which flows onto their employees and the Australian economy.

NCIG have a proven track record of excellent site management and operational excellence. The MOD 3 capacity increase will have no impact on the existing project approvals or to the environment. The incremental Port Capacity upgrades are a natural progression for NCIG to ensure the facility remains highly efficient and a sustainable operation. This facility exports a significant amount of Coal in support of the Hunter Region Coal mines not to mention the ongoing employment and infrastructure development for the NSW state.

NCIG has established itself as the leading coal export terminal in the world for safety, environmental performance, technology and efficiency and support of the community. This has been achieved through an excellent team who are committed to achieving the goals of the organisation and doing so in an ethical and sustainable fashion.

At this time in history it has become common knowledge that the ongoing burning of fossil fuels is driving climate chaos.

It would be inexcusable and immoral to agree to the expansion allowing more coal to be exported.

The argument that our coal is cleaner and therefore better for the global environment has been blown out of the water with the admission that the testers in Newcastle (and elsewhere) have been fudging the books in favour of the coal lobby.

We are watching our destruction of the world as we know it. We are able to change this if we have the will. One way to make a change is to move away from our reliance on fossil fuels and encourage the expansion of renewable energy alternatives.

Do not remain wilfully blind and carry on as if everything is going well. Your decisions impact on everyone, locals who breathe the filthy dust and every creature and plant on earth which has to adapt or die because of climate change exacerbated by our self-centred greed.

Do not allow this expansion.

I support NCIG in there application to expand capacity
T.W.Woods Construction Pty Ltd, Employ up to 40 people in the Hunter and rely on great companies like NCIG to continue and to expand capacity as necessary to create ongoing employment for the Hunter, especially in these times of Covid 19, which has affected so many lives.
Coal export is a valuable asset in these times
We have been directly involved with NCIG in assisting them to achieve there successful optimisation project, which they now need to be able to facilitate

In the light of COVID-19 and it's effects on our environment with a cease in trading and pollution, we should increase our value and vision towards renewable energy resources within Australia. The effort to increase the amount of coal exported during a time of global catastrophe is understandable due to its economic impact, however the export of more coal (a polluting energy source of itself) will also increase the amount of air pollution created by transportation vehicles due to the increased frequency of travel, plus more noise pollution from cargo ships both to the port area and its surrounds, and to our marine life which can interrupt their valuable ecological presence and our tourism fuelled local economy.
We should be focusing not on how to export more for an instantaneous boost to our economy, but longer term solutions both for our pockets and our ports' environmental integrity, with the main vision being to decrease the limit of coal exported, not increased.
Please help keep Newcastle prosperous and beautiful, without the use of coal. We have the opportunity now to build a better future based on better technology, and I hope that the NSW government and Newcastle council can embrace that for the betterment of all it's citizens.

I am both a resident of Stockton and a supplier of services to NCIG. I support the project on the following basis
- the care and due diligence in which NCIG conduct their business;
- their community and stakeholder engagement in the way they operate;
- the contribution they make to the community and environment they operate;
- their contribution they make as an employer and to the local and national economy.

This expansion will enable further growth of our region's largest export commodity and provide greater flexibility for the Hunter Valley's coal mines. It is able to be delivered at very little cost and rewards the innovations that have been made at NCIG over the past 5 years. Definitely a positive move for Newcastle.

I feel the extension to the current structure will only aid the port of Newcastle to improve it service to the Hunter Coal Mines.
As the current COVID-19 situation has shown just how important the coal industry is needed to support the country, any improvement or addition to the Coal Infrastructure is a good one.
This business not only supports the city of Newcastle but also thousands of families and businesses associated right across the Hunter.

I support the project of increasing the throughput of the coal terminal from 66Mtpa to 79Mtpa as this will increase the redundancy within the system which will allow for the following:
- Further flexibility for the production schedules of mining operations in the Hunter Valley Region to reduce impacts on the surrounding communities
- Allow for system maintenance and upgrades to be performed which will improve safety and efficiency
- Create more jobs for the city of Newcastle
