I support the Coalpac Mine modifications. It will provide a cheap reliable resource to Mt Piper Power Station, which in turn keeps electricity prices affordable in NSW, and will create hundreds of jobs. I have personally watched hundreds of people being made redundant in the past two years and it has driven families to relocate to other areas, and in some cases caused families to breakdown due to the pressures of unemployment. Industry in the Central West is on the decline where companies such as Electrolux, Simplot, Downer EDI Rail, and Westrac have all announced major job losses. If this continues it will be the end of growth in our region.

Having worked in the mining industry for over a decade now as a safety and environmental professional I am yet to see a company as dedicated to improving the social, economic and environmental outcomes of a region.

I can say this as a former Coalpac employee and in my own professional capacity.

The two mines (Invincible and Cullen Valley) have operated sustainably for generations and I believe will do so for many more to come. Cullen Bullen has prospered from mining related activity and you will find that the current EA has taken into account all of the concerns of the region (and in a lot of cases concerns of people who have never even visited Lithgow and its surrounds).

In my view the mine should be approved based on the success of rehabilitation efforts by Coalpac with former mining areas.

The level of rehabilitation success in my view is world class with many of the disturbed areas now emulating the sorrounding BBSF, and in some cases more diverse, due to lack of pressure from competing land uses (I.e horse riding, grazing and other recreational pursuits).

The project appears to have taken into account a range of envirommental impacts and through applied science all of these perceived and actual impacts can be managed accordingly. Coalpac has already demonstrated that it can do this.

I have since moved away from the Blue Mountains region as a result of the declined approvals however remain committed to positive and sustainable development in the greater Lithgow regions.

Globally, it is important to consider balance between social, economic and environmental needs. Already millions of hectares are locked up as part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. One must remember that mining and conservation have co-existed for hundreds of years.

I fully support any sustainable project and one that adds value to the triple bottom line.

I support the proposed modifications being submitted by Coalpac.
The local economy needs this project, and the environmental systems and controls being utilised by the company and being proposed for introduction provide an extremely high level of protection for the local community.
The reduction in area proposed (from prior consolidated application) also provides further assurances to the local community.

I strongly support this project. Coal mining in this region is not something new, with the region being what it is today due to a long mining history. With the recent closures due to the prolonged planning application process, many people lost employment and the flow on effects in the area have been felt. Invincible Colliery should go ahead to boost the local economy and ensure continuity of the local power station. There will always be people against mining and this project, however the mine has strong rehabilitation performance, environmental controls in place and overall poses greater opportunity than risk. Give this region a chance to prosper

I fully support coalpac's Modifications for their extensions of their Cullen Valley & Invincible Colliery Mine which could provide up to 245 jobs.
My husband & son lost their jobs last year & this has had a devastating effect on our family as they now have to work more than 150 kilometers from home.
Lithgow needs this mine to be approved to create jobs that have been lost in Lithgow which also has been devasting for our town& local business.
We can't afford for this not to be approved as more jobs will be lost & the cost of power supply will increase & the average family & elderly cannot afford this to happen.
Please approve this submission.

Thankyou

The invincible colliery provides many jobs & opportunities for a vast range of people in the Cullen Bullen & surrounding areas. I have the primary knowledge that their environmental rehabilitation strategies are as effective as anywhere in the world.

I STRONGLY support the extension of Invincible Colliery!

The economic effect of the mine closing has been far reaching. Local businesses have suffered. Families have lost their homes, their cars and even their life savings trying to stay afloat. The new submissions appears to address the environmental impact issues easily and will create enough jobs in the area to allow many families a reprieve from the day to day financial struggle.

I fully support the approvals for Invincible coal mine. Lithgow is a coal mining town and we need to keep our town alive with industry. Our younger generation need apprenticeship with the possibility of fulltime employments. I am quite concerned that this could be the start for greenies to get rid of all the mining industry within the central west region. Most of the photos I have seen on website are not related to this region.

I support the approval for the invincible open cut coal mine as Lithgow needs this mine to be approved to create jobs that were lost last year.
You must approve this as the greens cannot get away with this .

How can anyone trust Coalpac to do the 'right thing' by the townsfolk of Cullen Bullen, or anywhere for that matter, if they have failed to do the right thing by their own ex-employees by still having not paid them out correctly when they were made redundant last year. How can Coalpac expect any loyalty or support if they have clearly demonstrated they have none whatsoever for anyone else, including their so called employees!

I work in the coal mining industry and have worked at the Cullen Valley Mine and the Invincible Mine. I now have to travel and spend time away from my family, as local mines struggle to get approvals. This area has always been a mining area as far back as 1901 when Portland mined lime for cement. This area needs mines to survive and to continue. The mines provide jobs for locals and also supports other businesses along with providing coal to the local power station which in turn provides electricity to NSW households. We need this mine! Without it, it not only affects the people working directly in the mine, it has a snowball effect. Trucking companies that have contracts to move the coal from the mine, lose work; Power stations close and put people off work, which in turn sends people out of the area to find work elsewhere, then shops & businesses close because people left in the area are no longer enough to keep them going; schools and sporting clubs will no longer get Sponsorships that they were lucky enough to get from the Mines and Power station to help keep going; and then Electricity goes UP because local power stations need to source coal from other areas at a cost.

I am a professional Accountant that has moved to the area some 17 years ago to work in another coal mine. People with my skills rarely move to the area for reasons other than work. I not only have worked in the coal industry i have participated as Treasurer and President of local dog clubs utilising my professional skills as an accountant and as a business person. The local area will greatly lose skills such as this for their community if business is not continued int he area.

On the other hand i live on property that is directly behind the Gardens of Stone National Park and Capertee Valley and i know that this project will in no way impact that area due to the distance from the mine.

I emplore those with an understanding that this area has been mined for over 100 years to see sense and allow the proposal to go ahead. The townships would not exist if coal mining had not been there.

I fully support coalpac submission for invincible coal mine . I lost my job last year & now have to work away from my family which is devastating & very difficult as I now have to pay rent where I was able to get work & rent in Bathurst where I live. It is very unfair that the greens appose this mine because it is peoples livelihood& we need this mine to operate to be able to supply mt piper with cheap coal which will keep our electrify prices down .
Thankyou & I hope you approve this mine

I have lived in the Lithgow region my entire life and can clearly see the economic impact the mines closure has had on the town. The new submission will create over 254 jobs, rehabilitate the area and provide a much needed economic boost to the local economy. The submission addressed issues such as dust and noise whilst also providing a strong economic boost to the area. I strongly support the proposal.
