Modification 6 - underground mining extension

This project will provide certainty to families of Ulan employees and also another five times that amount who rely on supplying, contracting to or providing services to the mine.

I support the Mod6 application's approval. The extension of Ulan West life of mine will have significant positive implications on the economy of the Mudgee township, including longer term employment and support of local businesses.

This will provide ongoing employment to the Mudgee community which in turn will provide Mudgee with an economical boost while having very minimal environmental impact

As with the original submission, this project supports the economy, extending employment opportunities in Central West NSW, and is lodged by a responsible company with a great track record of land stewardship at Ulan.

The challenge to previous approval was nothing more than special interest groups exploiting the system for their own ends, seeking to stall these sorts of projects at any cost and without concern for the taxpayer, the locals or any other collateral damage.

Mod 6 will assist with continued grow within the region, along with continued responsible coal mining

Ulan Mod 6 would be good for the town, region and state. It needs to go ahead.

Glencore supports community and sports clubs which benefit the Mudgee/Gulgong area. Keeps the kids busy. I have 3 children who play a lot of sport and the facilities are phenomenal

The Ulan Coal projects bring a lot of money and resourcing to the LGA. Ulan Coal focus on community investment and support of local activities e.g. school events.

The Mod 6 extension will provide ongoing employment and economic benefits to the local and regional community while supporting the continued viability of the mine.

This will be great for the Mudgee and Gulgong community. It will support local suppliers to the mine.

Ulan coal complex is an integral part of the Mudgee community, providing growth and stability to all families and businesses around town, without businesses like this in our regional area our town would collapse.

I support the proposal to extend the life of the mine, creating huge opportunities for locals to make a career path locally that is rewarding.

I am writing to express my strong support for the Ulan Coal Modification 6 (Mod 6) underground mining extension.

The continuation of Ulan Coal through Mod 6 is critically important for the local economy and for the long-term wellbeing of our community. The mine is a major employer in the region and provides stable, well-paid jobs that support hundreds of local families directly and many more indirectly through contractors, suppliers, and local businesses.

For young families in particular, job security is essential. Ongoing employment at Ulan Coal allows families to plan for the future, buy homes, raise children locally, and remain part of the community rather than being forced to relocate for work. This stability supports local schools, childcare services, sporting clubs, and community groups, helping to keep towns viable and growing.

The project also delivers broader economic benefits by supporting local businesses such as trades, transport operators, accommodation providers, retail outlets, and service industries. These flow-on effects strengthen the regional economy and provide employment opportunities for younger people entering the workforce, including apprentices and trainees.

Importantly, Mod 6 involves the continuation of underground mining in an area with an established mining history, utilising existing infrastructure and an experienced workforce. This approach minimises additional disturbance while maximising economic and social benefits for the region.

In a time when regional communities face uncertainty and rising costs of living, projects like Mod 6 provide confidence, stability, and ongoing investment. Supporting this modification is supporting local jobs, young families, and the long-term sustainability of our community.

I strongly encourage the NSW Government to approve Ulan Coal Modification 6.

I support the project as I have been working for the mines now for 17.5years
This has enabled me to own my house, build a family in my home town. The mines have created growth for our town and surrounding areas!
Without the mines in this area, the town will be nothing, forcing people to relocate elsewhere! The community need this as much as we need electricity and steel

I support the Ulan MOD6 project and extension of coal mining in the locality, region and in Australia. The project (and coal mine industry generally) will support Australia's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions via supporting the transition to renewable energy. Continuation of coal mining will provide reliable energy for a long time and will assist with providing more affordable energy. The project will ensure Ulan Coal Mine provides continued support in terms of ongoing employment, significant support to local businesses and community organisations and the local and state economy. The project can be managed to ensure there are no significant environmental impacts, including, but not limited to Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Ulan has a long history of demonstrating it can manage its impacts within acceptable limits and is important in terms of its social and community benefits. As demonstrated in the GHG assessment report, the Ulan Mine is not a significant emitter of greenhouse gas and the project has demonstrated it is consistent with Australia's commitment to a low carbon economy. Importantly, the project will provide significant benefits in terms of ongoing employment and community benefits.

I support the amended Ulan Coal Mine Modification 6 as the proposal has addressed the legal and assessment deficiencies identified in the previous proceedings, provides a more robust assessment of climate change impacts, and enables the orderly continuation of a lower-emissions, non-gassy underground operation within an established and approved mining footprint, while maintaining strong environmental management, rehabilitation and community outcomes.
