Why is it so difficult to make a comment!!
I appreciate all the work that has been done thus far & support the project.
I do think that the noticeboard signage is a waste of money. Just go and look at the existing Jindabyne school signs. Unless you have time to stand and wait, these signs are useless for dispensing information. If you glance, as you are driving, & see something interesting, are you then able to stop and wait for that part to come around again? Try watching the one at that fee paying school on Kosi road too. It is impossible to read. If you have driven into town in the dark & that sign hits a section where the whole sign goes "white light" it's like having headlights pointed at you. Delete the north & south ones that are at an intersection & a "T" junction where you would be unable to even pause.
Within this copious amount of detail it claims that Gippsland & park roads have existing footpaths? Sorry, Park Road has bits, but not continuous. Gippsland Street also has sections but not continuous. Even worse, for some reason the path, that is there, crosses the road and then back again 100 or so metres along. Jillamatong Street is the same, with paths in the mid section but not at either end. Council has said it will install paths when Highview Estate part 2 is built?? BUT JJillamatong is completed AND houses are built plus a child minding (200?) centre operational. Gippsland Street coupled with Reedy's & now Jillamatong form a de-facto "by-pass" for many drivers heading south to Leesville etc. & travel at speed through these streets.
I also came across a suggestion to use the gravel path "along the Snowy River". I assume this is meant to be the Coppertom MTB trail that was supposed to be a shared trail? Council is the manager of this area but does not carry out any maintenace to any of the trails. They "hope" that the local bikers/volunteers will do this, but they are hard pressed to maintain all the "unauthorised" trails they have put in all over the place. Council has grant funding to upgrade this trail & we are awaiting this to see what standard it will be made to and how it will be maintained.
None of this (education precinct) should be funded out of the SAP monies. That money was to be for bringing Jindabyne's infrastructure to a standard to encourage year round tourism. Water & sewer is also basic capital works, as was the upgrades to Bombala's water & sewer. So far we have not seen anything from The SAP funds for year round tourism infrastructure. It is all "better than nothing" from the disinterested Cooma Council!
Thank you for hearing me!
