We (Andrea and Leon Olsen) make our submission as owners and landlords of the property at 20 Loch Maree Avenue, Thornleigh, NSW 2120.

We currently reside in London at:
Flat 5
2 Woodfield Road
London W5 1SJ
United Kingdom

Whilst supporting of the NorthConnex project, we have serious concerns relating to the Trelawley Street Compound to be used during construction and situated in the local residential area of our property. In summary, our key concerns are:

- Serious concern regarding heavy vehicle movements using local and residential roads - we believe the proposed heavy vehicle movements are unworkable, unsafe and will create significant disruption in already congested local and residential roads. Should the compound go ahead as planned, we request that the traffic management plan is detailed and assessed prior to approval of the site - and that our concerns relating to the use of local and residential roads is considered, resulting in heavy vehicles using no local or residential roads in the area (i.e. access only via Pennant Hills Road). If this means that heavy vehicles can only gain access in the South bound direction, we believe this should be possible to plan logistically. In addition, we request that the volume of spoil to be removed from the site is minimised / reduced, e.g. through removing all or more at either ends of the tunnel, with direct motorway access.

- Significant concerns regarding increased noise levels at the compound during 24/7 construction - we note that the compound will have the highest noise impact of any construction site, with more than double the next site - and this in a residential area, with our property located in a valley downhill. Should the compound go ahead as planned, we would like assurances that appropriate mitigation measures will be implemented to reduce or eliminate the noise impact on the residential area.

- Conserns regarding other vehicle movements - light vehicles can access the compound using other local roads to avoid the bottleneck at the Pennant Hills Road / Loch Maree Avenue intersection - using Trelawley Street or Nelson Street to access the lower part of Loch Maree Avenue and drive through to the planned entry point. In addition, parking on local roads that already have scarce parking may result. This would create safety concerns and significant disruption to local residents. We would like guarantees that no construction related vehicle of any kind or size will use these local roads - and that this limitation is policed.

Overall, we believe the plan to locate such a compound in a residential area with use of local roads is seriously flawed - in particular as it would seem that there are other ore appropriate locations to use. For example, the other side of Pennant Hills Road is not residential, and locating the compound there would likely significantly reduce some of the concerns with the proposed compound.

Without alternations we foresee significant negative impact and disruption to the local living conditions that severely reduce the quality of life and safety of the local residential area. As landlords we would consequently expect a significant reduction in the potential rent we can charge from tenants residing in our property during construction - and we would expect compensation to duly cover our losses in this respect.

Our concerns are described in more detail in the attached document. We hope that the concerns and issues raised will be given proper and due consideration and will be addressed, as it is the quality and safety of the daily lives of the residents in the local area.

Please contact us by email (see below) if our further input is required.

Kind regards,

Prompted by hearing about political aggravation concerning the exhaust emissions from the tunnel, I thought I should tip you off to a completely new product about to be produced in Victoria. It is a totally natural product, one form of which was approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency about three years ago. It is made using a unique Australian technology.

If you use this to filter the exhausts I suspect you will be able to remove (sequester, if you like) just about everything in the exhaust and end up NOT with waste, but rather with material that can be sold off as a superior fertiliser.

The product has been demonstrated to remediate oil spills, radionuclides, heavy metals contamination, PCBs, and it will also 'digest' and breakdown so-called 'greenhouse gases.

Want to know more? You've got my email address; telephone 0407 559 344. Full technical information is available.

P.S. It will also be cheap!
