Message
I object to the proposal in the EIS because of risks to health and quality of life to residents affected by surface emissions, noise and local street access restrictions arising from tunnel shaft activities, spoil removal on existing roads and toxic emissions.
These impacts and risks can be reduced by locating the route further to the West using a series of shorter tunnels through ridges with disposal of tunnel spoil forming the road embankments as normal balanced cut- fill technology.
This allows close proximity of carriageways on the fill sections
giving flexibility for safe tunnel usage in emergencies. Ventilat[on could be more reliably achieved by piston action and no stack is required.ie RISKS ARE MINIMISED.
