Firstly, I am opposed to the Light Rail travelling along Devonshire Street. It is a narrow street and the consequences of this project to residents and businesses will be extremely negative.

I attended the Community Consultation Session at Surry Hills Library last week and discussed a some matters with your rep.

On the display board for the Surry Hills component of the CBD & South Wast Light Rail Project there was a sentence: "Reinstate Cooper Street connection to Riley Road (sic) Street". I enquired about the meaning of this and was advised that it was meant to "encourage cyclists to use this street". If that's the case, why not stipulate that in the wording?

As you are aware the junction of Cooper Street and Riley Street is now blocked to traffic by a landscaped plaza. In view of Devonshire Street in the future being blocked to westbound traffic between Elizabeth and Crown, I'm concerned that Cooper Street will be opened up to westbound traffic. The wording on your display board "reinstate Cooper Street connection to Riley Road (sic) Street" is ambiguous, but not ambiguous enough to stir suspicions that the landscaped plaza will be removed. Can you confirm that this will not be the case?

On a second note, where will the westbound traffic (from Bourke St, Moore Park) go when the westbound lane is removed from Devonshire Street? The option to join the gridlock on Cleveland Street won't be appealing to drivers, so they will probably do rat-runs into small residential streets such as Cooper Street, Waterloo Street to reach Elizabeth Street. Can you give your thoughts on this.

I have been a resident of Cooper Street Surry Hills (near Devonshire Street) for 10 years and have so far enjoyed living here. I can't see how the constant presence of the light rail along Devonshire Street and possible increased traffic via rat-runs will improve this.

We provide the attached report for your consideration prepared on behalf of the owners of No 633 Bourke Street, Mr Paul Allam.

We have prepared an additional drawing No 3014-13-Sheet 3 which shows an alternative alignment down Devonshire Street which maintains short term parking for loading vehicles for local businesses. To be read in conjunction with our letter report dated 14th December 2013 already submitted.
