1300 jobs depend on Mount Thorley Warkworth which has been part of the Singleton community for more than 30 years. I can only imagine what the impact would be to families who have been in the region for generations if it is not approved to continue mining. But the impact doesn't stop with the people directly employed by MTW: in 2013 alone we spent over $188 million with local businesses in the Upper Hunter. Without the continuation, impacts will be felt right across the Hunter region

My family relies soley on my husbands income working as a driller at Mount Thorley/Warkworth.
Without the continuation of this project we may well have to leave the Hunter all together.
There has already been enough jobs lost in this area to make finding a new mining position around here almost impossible.
It is imperative to us that this projects continue, it is our future.

I support the continual operation of MTW for several reasons:
I will keep my job and work towards my future.
My 1300 colleagues will be able to keep their jobs and continue providing for their families.
The contractors that our site employs will be able to continue working on site and without having to further reduce their numbers.
The salaries and wages paid to all of the above will go back into the economy through the taxes they pay as well as their every day spending in the community.
The continuation of MTW is important for me, my colleagues, our contractors and the greater Hunter Region.

I would like to show my support the expansion of MTW as I am a current employee at the mine and I it is not allowed to continue mining it will leave myself and 1300 of my workmates out of a job. In the current climate it is becoming very hard to find a job quickly or easily. Another reason for the importance of the approval going through is the local economy would struggle without the income of workers and the many local companies that rely on the mines business to stay open. Without the mine the hunter valley region will suffer economically and personally for so many families in the region.

I support the MTW expansion for several reasons as listed below:
1. Mining is a fundamental industry underpinning this great country we live in and we need mining to help maintain the wonderful lifestyle we enjoy in Australia.
2. I support mining jobs in Singleton and surrounds, a town with a proud history of mining and a strong future if the MTW extension proceeds.
3. There have already been too many job losses in mining over the past 12 months and this extension should be approved to secure employment for 1300+ people that rely on these mines for their income and to support their families.
4. I support the economic benefits that mining brings to the Hunter Valley and the state. The MTW extension will spend over $6 billion of which $567 million will be provided to the state in royalties.
5. I work in the mining industry and I and my family depend on a strong and growing mining industry. Whilst I live in Queensland, over half my work and income comes out of NSW which includes MTW. I and my work team depend in part on MTW for the security of their future employment, and without the extension, job losses will extend into my team as well.
