I am currently employed at MTW, I have built a new home and have all my family here in the hunter valley, this extension not going through will require me to pack up my family and to follow work elsewhere, the hole is already in the ground why not keep this one instead of making others elsewhere!!

I use to work @ mount thorley 2011-2012 but now I commute to western Australia for a permanent mining job. I would love to be home with my family and work back at my thorley with stability of long term work.

The closure of this mine will directly impact on not only families but the community and wider community. I hate to think what will happen if 1300 employees lose their jobs, the impact on this would be devastating. My own family would be impacted and with young children to provide for this would make it extremely difficult and heartbreaking for the family. The impact on the wider community would be felt in a major way also.
This mine must continue to operate for many more years to come

Dear NSW Government, I support the extension of MTW 110% it is a large supporter of jobs in the Hunter Valley area which we dearly need.I have previously worked at MTW for some 7 years as a contractor and a permanent employee a great place to work, I now work in the engineering industry here in Maitland which relies on MTW and other mines for on going repair work (Employment). In the last year or so we have seen the slow down in the coal industry and have seen the affects first hand with lay offs not good for those employees and the community as a whole. Please consider my submission and think about the benifits for whole Hunter Valley community it would bring if the extension went ahead. Thank You

We need the mines to continue to prosper for the benefit of this town and surrounding towns. I have seen the towns in the Hunter slowly dying off with the continual loss of jobs. This does not only effect the miners and their families but also the lives of people involved in all sectors of the towns. It really hard to have lost a business and now see more businesses closing. People leaving will have a huge impact on towns. Please really think about what you are doing before you ruin more people's lives. Maybe we all need to look at what the mines have done for us as a society.

I support the extension of warkworth mine. It employees many people and helps a lot of small towns in the area survive.

With the current climate of mining at the moment and vale and bhp shedding jobs we can't afford to loose another mine. My family rely on my income from Mtw to survive.

I disagree with the way about the process rio tinto took for the extension but I strongly agree with the extension in principal far too many jobs at stake not just of the direct employees but local contractors, suppliers and other supporting business to the local communities as well.
