I OBJECT to the Crudine Ridge Wind Farm Modification 1

The placement of these wind turbines will cause lots of environmental
destruction from the wind turbines themselves to the increase in need
for tree removal along the proposed access road. Wind turbines have
caused a lot of anguish and annoyance when it comes to firefighting
because the well needed firefighting aircraft aren't allowed to fly
near the turbines. This MOD needs to be rejected.

I support this project due to the amount of jobs, money and life it will
put into the local community. Any improvement of roads such as Aaron's
pass road can only be a good thing for the community. The road will be
safer and better maintained than before. A good thing for an otherwise
declining local community.

The developer has had more than 30 months since PAC approval and 18
months since final approval by the Federal DOE in which to get their
plans for the wind farm fully worked out. Despite that, the developer
has not produced detailed plans of precisely what will occur on the
ground throughout the area under the modification or of the precise
impact on Aarons Pass Road. However, they want to be granted approval
"on trust" that as the project proceeds they will get agreement from
the NSW Department which originally failed to identify the ecological
harm of the 77 turbine proposal and which had to be forced by locals
to stop the unauthorized tree destruction along Aarons Pass Road. The
modification must be rejected. Who knows what they are hiding. Tell
them to come back when they have all their "t"s crossed and "i"s
dotted.

Crudine Ridge Wind Farm is an important part of NSW and Australia's
transition to a low-carbon future. The upgrade of APR is not only
necessary for the project to proceed but has immeasurable benefits to
the community by increasing the safety of the road. Any native flora
and habitats removed to undertake the upgrades will be offset under
state government policy so should not be a reason for the modification
to be denied planning approval.

Message
This modification proposal should be wholly rejected.

The proponent has already demonstrated a contempt for impacts on
biodiversity by contravening the conditions of consent. The proponent
is now seeking permission to clear more land. Granting this
modification would be rewarding the proponent for the insensitivity
they have displayed toward biodiversity impacts. This should not be
allowed.

The original conditions of consent were granted following input from
the Federal Department of the Environment and Energy. The Federal
Department of the Environment significantly reduced the number of
turbines. This modification has potential impacts on the environment
which should not be assessed by any authority other than the relevant
authority.

Any modification of a project subject to a controlled action should be
fully investigated as a controlled action by the appropriate parties.

The proponent should be clearly told that no further clearing of
Aarons Pass Road will be allowed and that they will either build the
wind farm as originally approved or not build it at all.

If the proponent continues with construction of the original project,
it is advised that the Department of Planning put in place adequate
supervision of construction. The local community should not have the
sole responsibility of ensuring the Department's conditions of consent
are adhered to.

Given the proponent has chosen a site that has a high level of
importance for biodiversity and has demonstrated an insensitivity to
both the conditions of consent and impacts on the environment, it
would be best for all concerned if the wind farm did not proceed.

The work already undertaken to widen the 22km stretch of Aarons pass road
has been extremely detrimental to the local endangered ecological
community of Box woodland, and any future works carried and further
damage caused will ultimately result in the complete destruction of
the local flora and fauna.
The level of misrepresentation of the amount of clearing required,
just to get approval, is a joke.
The work already carried out should have been, along with any future
works be completed within the existing parameters.
This destruction cannot be warranted for approx 110 - 120 truck
movements.
Whilst road safety is always important and we would never say no to a
road upgrade, we don't need a super wide dirt highway to the middle of
no where.

I object to this modification because the amount of clearance is far more
than what they originally said.

As the owner of 994 Aarons Pass Road Carcalgong we would like to support
this application.
In our opinion the works proposed will benefit road users and provide
a safer driving environment.
We also add that in all dealings with the applicants we have found
them to be honest, open and professional in their approach to the
Crudine Ridge wind Farm development.

Whilst it is outside the scope of this application we would suggest
that if approved, Council should consider placing suitable speed
restrictions on the road.

The climate is changing because the planet has lost 85% of it's forests
which are discribed as the earth lungs.

Planting windfarms at the expense of vitally important trees negates
any advantage a wind farm creates.

I strongly object to 297 trees being illegally removed and the fine is
drastically in adequate.

I support all new forms of generation in NSW. We desperately need more
electricity flowing in to the NSW network to help reduce prices.

I am writing to express my deep concern at the recent proposal for
significant suspension of works at the Crudine Ridge Wind Farm
development.

Strait Up Cranes & Rigging is a family-owned business providing
cranage services in the Central West NSW region. We employ local
people and provide services with modern equipment and well-trained and
skilled personnel.

We have recently invested significantly with the ramping up of the
Crudine Wind Farm project, employing an additional four full-time
local employees and committing $880,000 to purchasing a larger mobile
crane with capabilities suited to the large number of lifting tasks
throughout site.

In the event that works are suspended, it is highly likely that not
only will our new employees become redundant, but our business will be
placed in a financially precarious position due to the contraction in
work activity.

It is understood that our situation is likely not unique, with a
significant number of other local businesses investing heavily to
provide support for this project, who will also be placed in tenuous
circumstances.

I would strongly urge all parties currently involved in the
progression of the project to work closely and cohesively in achieving
an urgent solution to any existing site issues, so that the project
may continue in a timely manner.
