Keep mudgee profert as it is and keep my family employed

I strongly support the proposed modification to Wilpinjong mine. As an employee since 2018 my husband and I purchased property and relocated to Mudgee with our 3 kids. Mudgee has been a fantastic place to raise a family and without the financial benefits I would no have been able to provide my family and kids with the lifestyle and opportunities that they have.

A mine that supports lots of local family and businesses and provides wages for over 600 people that reside within the area.

The Hunter Valley Coal Coordinator supports this project and recommend the NSW Government to approve this modification, recognising the substantial and enduring benefits it will deliver to the region and the state.

I am writing to express my strong support for the upcoming project submission for the Wilpinjong Mine. As someone who has a direct connection to this operation—both professionally and personally—I can confidently say that this project is not only important to me and my family, but also to many others in our region.
The Wilpinjong Mine provides stable employment and a reliable source of income for myself and many of my workmates. It helps us to support our families, keep a roof over our heads, and plan for a better future. In regional communities like ours, opportunities like these are not always easy to come by. The mine plays a vital role in keeping our community strong and sustainable.
Beyond direct employment, the mine’s contribution to the local economy is significant. Local businesses benefit from the flow-on effects of having a major employer in the area, and the mine’s investment in infrastructure and community programs has had a real, positive impact over the years.
I believe this project is essential to the continued wellbeing of our community. For myself, my family, my workmates and their families, and for many in the surrounding region, this project represents stability, opportunity, and growth.
I respectfully urge decision-makers to take into account the very real human impact of their decisions and to approve the Wilpinjong Mine project so it can continue to support the hardworking people who rely on it every day.

I greatly support the modification to the Wilpinjong mine. Not only does it support myself and my family, but all the local businesses within the area that are directly and indirectly attached to the mine.

Wilpinjong supports more than 160 community groups in the Mudgee region through $1.2 million in grants. Mining underpins the Mid-Western region’s economy, contributing more than $6 billion in economic output last year. The next nine industries combined accounted for less than half of that, at just $2.9 billion. The proposed modification is to extend an existing pit, allowing an additional 14 million tonnes of coal to be mined with no change to annual production or mine life. By continuing operations, the benefits will keep flowing to New South Wales, where last year Wilpinjong injected more than half a billion dollars into the economy and paid $96 million in wages. Importantly, this modification protects the Indigenous cultural sites at the Rocky Hill complex and retains the Cumbo Creek corridor.

Our company has had a long-standing and positive working relationship with Peabody Energy and the Wilpinjong team through the supply, installation, and maintenance of communication infrastructure and hardware. Throughout our engagement, Peabody has demonstrated a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and collaboration, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard and with mutual respect. Their professional approach and focus on operational excellence make them a valued partner, and we fully support the continuation of operations at Wilpinjong. I support the supporting the extension project. I have seen first hand how much financial support the mine gives the local community. If this mine will close so will local business, support for sport. Work will be lost, families will leave and schools will suffer.

Wilpingong mine has been a supporter of ours and other local business over the years. In these tough economic times we need mines to be able to expanded so they and those they support can keep local Australian's in meaningful well paid jobs.

There is no justification for this coal mine expansion that will destroy more Wiradjuri cultural heritage sites, destroy a biodiversity hotspot for threatened microbats and critically endangered Regent Honeyeater and impact Wollar Creek. Peabody Energy is proposing to mine right to the northern boundary of Wollar Village and in light of the current impacts of climate change on our state, our country and the world there is absolutely no social license, no scientific reason and no economic reason to allow further expansions of any mining project. Now is the time to wind down fossil fuel mining and put government funds to better use retraining workers and supporting sustainable energy creation. Thank you.

Wollar is at the crossroads of the renewable energy transition as the starting point for the Central West Renewable Energy Zone.

I strongly support the proposed extension of the Wilpinjong Coal Mine. This project represents an important opportunity to sustain local jobs, strengthen regional economies, and continue providing reliable energy resources during Australia’s ongoing energy transition.

This is needed to keep local jobs and Mudgee thriving.

Wilpinjong provides heaps of locomotives jobs without the mine Mudgee would start to fail

A well constructed and engineered plan to maximise efficiency of retrieving coal whilst minimising environmental disruption and impact.
Wilpinjong coal is a great support for the local community for jobs, investments and a strong charitable impact. They’re one of the safest sites in NSW engineering controls well above safety standards creating a safe environment to work and enjoy being around your fellow coworkers who are family. The community vibe you get coming into work can not be compared and most the time does not feel like work.
Wilpinjong Rehab program is taken very seriously and done at the highest industry standard compared to many other mine sites who set and forget those targets. If you watch how the mine progresses you will see how rapidly previous uncovered and cleared land has been regenerated back to its original habitat causing the minimal environmental disruption.

Denying this application would be a massive loss to the community with an increase in unemployment, reduce sustainability for many feeder business working with Wilpinjong and would cause a huge economic risk to growth of Mudgee/ Gulgong, not alone the potential psychological strain and stress it would cause to employees of Wilpinjong.

As a local resident, i completely support this application. Mining in our region supports an enormous amount of jobs.
It brings a huge benefit to the local economy through direct employment and also continued sponsorship or donations to schools, events and charities.
