I would like to see HVO continue their operations, as they are community minded, extremely conscientious of the responsibility they have towards the environment, and they are an integral part of the Upper hunters prosperity, where I am proud to live

HVO has made a positive impact in the local community supporting employees, suppliers and community initiatives for the life of their operations and should be allowed to continue to mine high quality low emission coal for the time period they have requested.
HVO has been an excellent training ground for generations of mine workers and tradespeople providing employment for the local communities and an opportunity to break into the mining industry.

I support the HVO North Project. It supports local jobs in the Newcastle and Hunter region whilst the economy transitions to renewable energy over the longer term.

HVO is a mine that has been supporting the Hunter Valley for over 30 years and plans to provide significant investment into the local region for another 30 years. Having grown up in Denman and returning home, I support the mining activities in the region as it provides myself with career opportunities, but it is greater than just me, there are multiple communities and families who rely upon the operations at HVO. In regard to the environmental impacts associated with HVO, the maintained footprint provides reassurance that the business can carefully maneuver whilst safely mining coal in a controlled manner that provides limited impacts on the surrounding communities through investment in infrastructure (water carts, monitors, water fill points) that ensure that dust levels are kept to a minimum. As an employee at HVO, we pride ourselves on ensuring that all environmental considerations are given the highest levels of attention and respect as this is at the core of our business. The economic aspects associated with the longevity of HVO are phenomenal. The State government revenue received from the Royalty is important to the investment in State owned infrastructure and bodies (NSW Health, NSW Police, Department of Education). This money provides ongoing benefit to such a range of individuals that stems outside of the Hunter region and could be a significant loss to the government and their ongoing funding of critical staff and infrastructure. In addition to this, I live local and appreciate the importance of spending local and supporting our communities. It is from the smallest of acts such as the morning coffee or the weekly fuel refill that the flow on impacts of having a job local means that my money is able to be spent local. Whilst there is 1,500 people approximately employed at HVO, the spread of our operation easily extends beyond this to the associated industry businesses such as engineering and fabrication type operations that continue to employ people from the local community to the person stocking our shelves at the local supermarket. Without money flowing into the community, the existence of said community is eradicated. Whilst the consideration and focus on a global scale is in relation to climate change, the dialogue needs to change from extracting coal to how can countries around the world become similar to the Japanese who have reduced their level of greenhouse gas emission by using the byproducts from the coal burning process to create other substances such as concrete. The question needs to be how we as a country can help the developing nations around the world who rely so heavily on Australian clean coal producers for their livelihoods have the infrastructure that promotes safe and environmentally friendly burning of carbon. For the future of myself, my family and my friends, I support the HVO continuation project.

I'm employed by hvo & think the continuing of this project would be fundermental in the 1500 jobs this company provides along with the millions of dollars that mining puts back into local communities & the revenue it generates in taxes for the nsw & federal goverments for schools, hospitals , roads & major infrastructure works would be very relevant to continue the lifespan of this operation..

I support this project.
HVO has always been focused on its commitment to Health, Safety, Community and Environment. HVO is a large employer in the local Singleton region. The business supports both local and regional businesses. HVO provides solid stewardship of the resource we have been permitted to extract. Over many years HVO has made and still invests into the local community and the region. The state of NSW benefits as a whole from the royalties paid onto the governments.

HVO is an integral supporter of the local Singleton and greater Hunter Valley/NSW region. I have been an employee at HVO for 13 years and have been a Singleton local for same amount of time. HVO brought myself and my family to the region from interstate in 2010. Since then 2 of my children have completed schooling in Singleton and are working locally. I would love to see HVO continue brill 2050 to allow the next generation of my family to remain in this wonderful part of Australia.
HVO not only provides employment for direct employees and contractors but extends influence to many other businesses whether a supplier or a cafe or service station that Employees visit daily.
I truly believe that HVO should continue in its best practice mining , processing and rehabilitation for the duration of the applied for consent.
Regards, Matt.
