I wish to lodge my objection to AGL's proposed extension of time for the commencement of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW. AGL have not provided sufficient cause for extension.
The community distrusts them. This has been acknowledged by the Department of Planning who noted AGL's appalling community consultation.
AGL have not supplied adequate time for an appropriate response.
AGL will rely on an Environmental Assessment that is 7 years old and does not include recent discoveries including the population of endangered Southern Pygmy Perch in Oolong Creek less than a few kilometres from the proposed construction.
This is a new proposal and needs a new assessment. AGL received its original approval under legislation repealed in 2011 after a corruption scandal that brought down the then NSW government. By repealing this legislation, the NSW Government acknowledged corrupt and unfair practices, such as undisclosed political donations made during the assessment of the original Dalton proposal and for which AGL have been convicted and fined. Hence it may be argued that the original assessment and approval were made under a defective head of authority which does not provide a legitimate basis for the project.
The rate of development of battery and alternative generating technologies is such that in two years' time a gas-fired generator may well be obsolete and, if built, a stranded asset.
AGL would appear to be pursuing a flawed and obsolescent if not obsolete business model. The whole-of-life cost of this project to the government and citizens of NSW may be an impediment to growth in this state. This proposed development is at odds with the electricity market now and in the future.
Finally the construction of this power plant will close down the business of Vince & Janet Heffernan at "Moorlands" Dalton who supply me and my family lamb. I object to this loss and this destruction of their business.

Thank you

I object to AGL's proposed extension of time, for the start of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW. AGL have failed to give cogent reasons for that mooted extension.
Recent actions of AGL, such as making false declarations about political donations, lead me and others to doubt AGL's honesty. Personal dealings with them, in the past, convince me that they are not to be trusted. They are not good corporate citizens. As evidence of this is that AGL pleaded guilty to a ten counts of not declaring political donations.
AGL has an appalling track record for community consultation. They clearly regard the community with disdain and are obdurate in their resistance to any thwarting of their plans, no matter how injurious to the environment and the people who live and work in the area. This proposal is new and needs an up-to-date, new assessment. Please do not approve it.
The original approval to AGL was under legislation which was repealed in 2011. This was only after a corruption scandal that brought down the then NSW government. By repealing this legislation, the NSW Government acknowledged corrupt and unfair practices, such as undisclosed political donations made during the assessment of the original Dalton proposal and for which AGL have been convicted and fined.
One questions whether the original assessment and approval were made under undue influence and thus would not provide a legal basis for the project.
It appears to me, that AGL is pursuing an obsolete model, given the rapid expansion and the rate of development of battery and alternative generating technologies. Very soon, a gas-fired generator will be just old and dirty technology. This proposed development is at odds with the present and future electricity market
Finally, the proposed construction of this power plant will close down many farming businesses. In particular the business of Vince & Janet Heffernan at "Moorlands", Dalton.
This family provides my family, neighbours and me with wonderful organic lamb. We cherish the fact that we have access to such wonderful produce. Many restaurants in Sydney and throguhout NSW, also cherish this wonderful produce. If this AGL ugly profit grab, at the expense of farmers and the environment is allowed to go ahead, then this and other business will fail. It would be a travesty.
I am implacably opposed to this application and I would welcome the opportunity to put my case personally. You can reach me on 9419996542

I wish to lodge my objection to AGL's proposed extension of time for the commencement of work on the proposed gas fired power plant project at Dalton (DPP), NSW.
It has the potential to pollute its surroundings which include the Canberra area and the Heffernan farm that supplies us with biodynamic lamb. It is sad that this farm which seeks to preserve the environment and avoids the use of chemicals will be heavily affected.
I believe we should be investing in renewable energy sources, not wantonly burning fossil fuels for electricity
