Mt Thorley Coal Mine Continuation

I support the Mt Thorley Continuation Project, to sustain the viability of a mine that contributes signficantly to the local economy, both in terms of jobs and investment.

I am writing to express my support for the Mount Thorley continuation project. I am a contractor currently working for the environmental services department. I have been working in this capacity for the last three years.

I have been witness to legislative changes in NSW planning resulting in the Warkworth PAC, subsequent appeal and ultimately the LEC court proceedings ensuing in the disapproval of the Warkworth Extension. The process has been an utter failure, neither smooth or timely and ultimately the judgement was not made on the basis of the scientific merit of the proposal.

Continuation of the project will help ensure the viability of the contracting company I work for. We are a small company with less than 20 workers and rely on mining for our continued profitability, the work we partake in is primarily land management based.

If the continuation does not go ahead I have concerns about the economics of singleton and the greater hunter valley region with a reduction in employment opportunities, revenues and housing prices.

As a resident of Bulga I am concerned about the visual and noise impact that this submission will create.

My friends and family rely on the mine so they can earne an imcome to support their loved ones. Also the community including many charitys and churches depend on the working community so that they can give to the sick, poor and diadvantaged. Any extra money that I have is given to my church and I know that if I didnt have a job my donation would be missed. My church feeds the poor, sick, homeless and has helped many people with marital problems, cured of drug problems etc. I thank you for your acknowledgement of my submission.

I support the applicaiton for expansion as I believe that by not expanding MTW this will have disastrous effects to the local business community and its surrounding areas. MTW provides a lot of employment for this area including some of the people of Bulga who are opposed to the expansion. It is important for me personally at is my only source of income that supports my familyl.

I am hoping for a long happy career in mining, i think mining is good for the community, good for everyone, it would all be a terrible shame to lose it all. Beyond my own personal interest, many families would suffer greatly if this mine could not continue.

as one of 1300 direct empolyees i worry not only for all our familys but the thousands of other people indirectly affected should we loose our jobs! above and beyond the mine reducing and eventually stoping spending with many locals companys, also will cease donations to countless charities and comunity groups. i personallly have recieved the rewards of such donations when the wespac rescue helicopter was called to my 10 day old daughter! many if not most of us have donations taken fortnightly directly out of our pay to this fine service. the effects of this submission are far reaching, well beyond just our jobs and that is the thing that should be kept first and formost in peoples minds!!!

I personaly suport this application as i moved my family to the hunter valley to provide a good future for them and have recently purchased a house in the local comunity and put a lot back into the comunity as do a lot of the 1300 employees at mtw. mtw also injects .a massive amout of money with local and surounding comunity For Mt Thorley Warkorth to gain aproval to keep mining is extremly important not only to myself and my fellow co-workers but is just as important to the local and surounding comunities. For this mine to shut down it will have a massivly devistating efect on the businesses

Who will provide 1300 replacement jobs if we dont get our extension ?

i support the application for mtw extension for my future and that of my family also for the town of Singleton needs the mine to go ahead for their economic future. Hopefully a balance can be acheived between our financial future and the enviroment

As im a Stay home mother as i realy on my Husbands income from MTW , and if the extention is not granted WE will not have a home or a job.

need this job for money for me and my wife and our unborn baby..i would loss my home if i lost my job....Please help us...

The depth of those affected by the result of the Mount Thorley Warkworth extension application extend beyond myself, a 23 year old female independant home owner, as well as the thousands of individuals, families, businesses and industries across the Hunter who are directly supported by the operation. It stretches across the entire country. I understand and am a passionate and active supporter of sustaining the environment. I believe the importance of the families who reply on the mines operations outweigh the impact on the environment as there is constant active measures being made to reduce and improve the effects.

i am relying on this employment for the financial security for my family to my retirerment

I would agree to extend MTW mine to keep my family alive

I support this extension as it allows me to provide food and housing for my family of 6 and the way they they support local business

I have been employed at MTW for the past 2 and a half years and would like to stay at MTW in the long term. The approval will provide long term job security to the 1300 workers at Mt Thorley. The approval will benefit the Hunter Valley community as the workforce spends their money in the community. Businesses are already closing down due to the downturn, it will only get worse if the extension doesnt go ahead.

I support this extension as in supports local business and allows 1300 people to remain employed at these mine
