It would be very beneficial to the growth and prosperity of the region now and into the future. Environmentally it would leave no impact when the mining is complete as rehabilitation methods these days are vigorously thorough.

Wilpinjong Coal Mine, and others in the area provide massive economic benefit to the Mid-Western Region.
An extension to existing mining operations makes sense to continue to provide NSW with reliable power whilst the energy transition continues.

Mines are the backbone of Australia's economy, a mine is only the size of a small farm yet provides income to our country and employment to 100's of people.

I support the extension of this mining project because it means more local jobs, stronger regional businesses, and continued investment in community infrastructure. The project has already made a positive impact, and extending it will help keep that momentum going—economically and socially. It’s a win for the region.

I am making this submission that I support to have this project approved.
I do have a conflicting interest in this project going ahead, as I am currently employed to work at the Peabody Wilpinjong site through a contracting company. I am hopeful to gain full time employment with Peabody directly in due time. My opportunity of employment is a considerable reason as to why I’d like the project to go ahead. I am a single parent with a daughter who relies on my employment for our wellbeing.
As the mine is closer to its end of life than its beginning, I think it makes sense to utilize the mine infrastructure in place to continue mining to maximize the mines placement and yield of coal extracted.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed extension of the MOD3 - Pit 8 extension at Wilpinjong Coal Mine.
As a local resident and tradesperson, I have seen firsthand the positive impact this mine has had on our community. The continuation of this project will:
Secure local jobs: The mine supports hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, providing stable employment for families in our region. This is especially important in rural areas where job opportunities can be limited.
Boost the local economy: Local businesses—from cafes to contractors—benefit from the economic activity generated by the mine. The flow-on effects help sustain schools, services, and infrastructure.
Support community programs: The mining company has a proven track record of investing in community initiatives, including apprenticeships, environmental rehabilitation, and local sponsorships.
Maintain energy security: While renewable energy is growing, coal remains a critical part of our energy mix. This extension ensures a reliable supply of high-quality coal during the transition period.
I believe the project has demonstrated a commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement. With proper regulation and oversight, this extension can continue to deliver benefits while managing its impacts.
I urge the Department to approve the extension and allow this vital project to continue supporting our region.
Sincerely,
Anthony Ford
