MOD 3 - Pit 8 Extension

I am very much in support of the Wilpinjong extension project. Wilpinjong Coal has afforded my family and I to move to a regional area and have a very comfortable lifestyle. The extension will allow the employment of all current employees to continue, along with continuing to support the local community, regional council, state and national government, and charity groups.

I support this project to continue benefiting the local region with employment opportunities.

I am in support of this extension as my partner works there which allows our family to be apart of the community while saving for our future and family

I support wilpinjong mine extension and its benefits to our region as they support our local supporting groups and provide employment for a variety of professions

My husband works there and for a mine town and our growing family and the community that him and the mines do to grow our community keeps jobs and creates new ones

Up the wilpinjong warriors i stand behind the mine expansion

I am a retired father of four and grandfather of four. We are facing the accelerating existential threat of climate change and we need to reduce our combustion of fossil fuels immediately. We have to act now for the sake of my children’s and grandchildren’s future.This expansion of the Peabody coal mine should not be allowed because of :
Releasing over 25 MT of additional Greenhouse Gas emissions
First stage of a bigger mine expansion and should be assessed as a new project
Mining to the boundary of Wollar Village
Disturbing an additional 155 ha:
• loss of Aboriginal cultural heritage and spiritual landscape for Wiradjuri Nation
• destroying more important habitat for the nationally threatened Large-eared
Pied Bat, Eastern Cave Bat, Regent Honeyeater and Koala
Permanently altering and degrading alluvial groundwater sources and surface flows in
the Wollar Creek catchment.
Increasing pollution through poorly assessed noise, dust, blasting, onsite coal ignition
(spontaneous combustion), lighting and water contamination
Increasing social impacts, loss of amenity and ongoing disturbance of rural way of life
Slowing the transition to clean energy future – competing with the Central West
Renewable Energy Zone that starts at Wollar
This project is not needed to provide regional jobs – there is a huge workforce shortage
for renewable energy projects in the Central West
10. There is no economic justification, the increased climate change impacts will cost more
than public income generated through royalties and taxes

Our entire family directly works at or for Wilpinjong so the future of this will have a huge effect. Working here , I have seen enough to believe that the environmental impact is as low as possible from any large industrial process.

I support the application as it provides employment for myself to support my family. Into the future it will also provide employment opportunities for my boys.

Wilpinjong coal is a key part to our lives providing jobs and energy to our communities

This project will help continue to provide stable jobs for locals and also workers from outside of the region who spend money in the region

I support the extension of wilpinjong coal mine as they are a major employer of local people in the area and help lots of local businesses.

I strongly support the proposed modification for Wilpinjong mine. This extension is good for our community, keeping locals in jobs and supporting local businesses .
