To whom it may concern,
As a resident of South Golden Beach, and a member of the Byron Shire community, I approve of and support both the community events and musical events planned to be held at North Byron Parklands.
I feel that the more events regarding community, schools, and live music will be of great benefit to the community. I believe we are lucky to have an active festival and events site so close to our own homes.
There are many residents in SGB and the surrounding community that are opposed to the propositions made by NBP. Many of these people deliberately spread slander and misinformation on the plans to be made regarding NBP, and intentionally deface the property of NBP supporters, and make aggressive and hateful comments towards the supporters and staff of NBP. These people are whinging "Not In My Backyard" clowns. They are afraid of young people, and any small change in their lives.
The festivals that take place bring a boom in economy to the local shop owners, including the buslines, the SGB corner store, and Ocean Shores shopping centre. Granting the propositions made by NBP to have their site used for school events and other smaller events as well as music events can only bring good to our small community, and will allow us to make good use of the facilities we have so near to us.

I am objecting to the application for an extended trial period, particularly when ongoing problems with the trial are already well and truly known.
1. Noise issues continually fail to be mitigated
2. Scathing report from the local police command vis a vis the traffic issues cannot be ignored
3. The applicants have had a golden run vis a vis 'dry weather' since early January 2013. At the end of January we experienced the devastation of the fring of Cyclone Oswald. Until the fringe impact of Cyclone Debbie, end of March 2017, there has been no significant rainfall event to clearly show the problems of emergency exit arrangement, problems with what can be more than reasonable predicted with en site portaloos.
Aerial photographs of the site during the rainfall event of the end of March 2017 will show how unsuitable is the site for any 'cultural event'
4. The impact on Brunswick Heads last Falls was horrific. At peak tourist time, 1,700, then 2,000 then 1,700 festival patrons were bused into the village where there is a resident population of 1614. Services simply could not cope
5. Associated behaviour - street camping abounded
6. There are 264 'battery' style composting toilets i.e. converted wheelie bins, each of which when full would require a minimum of 2.5months to become inert. Whilst this toileting arrangement has been approved, it doesn't address the problem of attention to the volume of liquid that has to be drained off...i.e. urine.......mixed with grey water and disposed of ensite.....particularly during any wet weather event. Check weather and climate data i.e. both and you will find that the 'wet' season in this transitional zone between sub-tropical and east coast warm temperate has a 'wet' period co-inciding with the Xmas/New Year festival. It is a site which has a high water table as clearly evident by the condition of a substantial area during this latest extended 'dry'. The entire farm was emerald green with lush grass growth. The top soil was not 'dry' in the sense indicating a moisture deficiency.

Aside from the social value of the gatherings at music festivals, North Byron Parklands and its associated events are significant employers in the shire and help underpin much local business. The shire benefits from these events so I support strongly.

The NBP site and the events run on it, have been an invaluable addition to Northern NSW and Australian Music Scene in general.
The events that run on them, provide huge support for tourism, local employment and the creative industries in general.
Its an amazing site and the events truly help to capture the spirit of the region.

I support the request for extension.
The festival provides a great boost for local jobs, the economy and is one of the marquee events held in Australia each year, supporting local music, artists as well as providing a great social event for all music and art lovers.

I live in New Brighton, right next to the festival site. I have a bunch of friends who own small businesses in my area, Brunswick Heads, Mullum and Byron, who all benefit directly from the festivals being held here. As well as the direct economic benefit to these businesses / suppliers, and the extra employment opportunities for locals these events bring, the cultural benefit to the area and the opportunities offered to local artists are huge.
Access to these opportunities, and being able to enjoy these international artists in a regional area in Australia should be embraced as a great privilege, rather than something that should be shut down.

We have had the pleasure of working with the organisers of Splendour in the Grass and The Falls Festival for the past 3 years as one of their chosen food service providers.
We have both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the business opportunities that the events provide us as a locally based business.
We wholeheartedly support the events and can certainly identify their benefit to the local community and its economy.
Our business sources all of its food from independent butchers, grocers and local food distribution suppliers and our consumable, recyclable service-ware items are also bought locally from small businesses
The two, currently operating, events make a significant contribution to our annual income and represent our company's largest spend in the local community.
We not only hope that the events will continue at the beautiful and much improved Parkland site but would very much hope to see a greater number of diverse events take place - for the benefit of the whole community and the State.

I am supporting Splendour In The Grass and Falls in the hope you will extend the trail period for them to operate their amazing festival at North Byron Parklands. They have brought great tourism to our town and in turn provided work/jobs for many locals. Local business are rewarded with the extra tourism especially brought by Splendour in the winter months. To not have festivals operate at the Parklands would be a real loss to many people and as i support creative industry I am making my submission of support.

Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival create an enormous amount of job opportunities for the local community which would otherwise not be available.
As a South Golden Beach home owner and local, the presence of the festivals within our neighbourhood is incredibly important to us and really puts our suburb on the map.
I fully support the the Trial Period Extension Modification to allow North Byron Parklands to continue holding these world class events.

I sent another submission a week ago. Meanwhile we had a huge flood. I live in <REDACTED> 1.7 km from the beach corner.
Our road frontage faces the North end of Parklands. I attach pics with views that way and east and west of <REDACTED>.
The flood waters were about 2.5m deep. Could not see the flood warning 2 meter signs. Just saw I can't attach pics. Please email me <REDACTED> if you want pics to prove my point.
The whole of Parklands as far as I could see was under about 2.5 m of water.
<REDACTED> is one of the first roads in the area to get flooded.
This road could never help evacuate people, as suggested at times.
This flood shows that the whole site is absolutely unsuitable for having 30000 or 50000 people on site, camping, partying, drinking....
How would they ever be able to evacuate.
What about the garbage, sewage, tents, equipment? A huge environmental problem!
Lets not have it!

The considered proposal not only protects the environmental sanctity of the land but projects a resource that would continue to provide gainful employment, emboldens local businesses, provides economic benefit to the region and secondary economic benefits to the surrounding regions and supports the creative industries in NSW, at a time when public perception of the state government's support of these industries are at a low.
I support this proposal.
