I feel splendour is a great asset to the tweed valley and byron shire. It brings business to the area and happy positive vibes! If the lease is extended I would love to see more support given to locals e.g buses for crabbes creek & mooball (the ones who put up with the noise and excessive traffic on the roads.) Also a contact stating that they will not exceed 35000 attendees as I don't think north byron parklands can handle anymore 😂 Overall I support it and would hate to see it moved to Tasmania an even colder location!

The events at the parklands offer something for everyone. Individuals can express their individuality through the art and cultural aspects - which I think is important to consider.

I believe festivals bring amounts of money in to the local economy that is necessary for Byron as it lacks permanent developments like apartments for tourists, making accomodation less affordable and exhibition centres to hold large events so with out this lease we may lose a lot of the tourist inflow.

It is reasonable that the NSW Gov't should grant Parklands the rights to have 3 or 4 major events each year on the Yelgun site, but to then push that out to a 'permanent site' goes against the very fabric of what the site was originally built for? It is on a flood plain, in a shire that does not have the infrastructure to deal with the incessant influx of 30, 000+ people with each festival. Surely the gov't can see what a mess the Byron Shire is in now, with roads in ruins and the council having to up their rates 70% to deal with the infrastructure damage caused mostly by tourists. Please, grant Parklands their big YES you can have your 3 or 4 festivals but think carefully about anymore, i mean the last thing the GOVT wants is an event like Cyclone Debbie and 2000 cars washed out, people drowning etc and the 300 tons of landfill floating throughout the precious ecosystem. The site is a FLOOD PLAIN, as defined in the dictionary and as demonstrated by floods in 1974, 87, and most recently 2017.

Our community has come to love and rely on all the events that are held at Byron Parklands. I am strongly in favour of the application.

For many years now my family and I and many of our friends that live in the Byron Shire have not only enjoyed the events held at Byron Parklands but have come to rely on them as they provide work and opportunity in an area that is often hard to find ongoing work and income. I strongly support the proposal. Parklands has not come close to reaching its wonderful; potential re al that it could offer to the Shire and further a field.

Hello,

I'd just like to passionately support the renewal of this extension.
The wellbeing of the site to further develop a safe, clean professional site to host such large scale events.
I liken the future evolution to that of the Woodford Folk Festival site in which infrastructure, drainage, facilities and comforts have been upgraded over many years.
All of these factors add up to a safer, more comfortable, more enjoyable experience to everyone involved.
This site is also the best in the area already and in my humble opinion is the most obvious site to support. Belongil fields are too environmentally sensitive and the Blues fest site lacks the beauty and spirit that a festival really needs.
Please renew the extension and allow the evolution of what could be Australias premier festival site.

Thank you

Regards

Justin

The economic benefits of this venue are crucial to many not only in NSW but also across the boarder into southern QLD. This venue's festivals significantly support the Creative Industries in a way that is often underrated and overlooked. It would be a large dent into Australia's creative culture if this venue was unable to continue supporting the arts.

The Parklands Project provides critical income for myself and a number of other local entertainment technicians and set builders. Without the Parklands we must travel to Brisbane, making our services less cost effective for companies utilising our skill set, meaning less work/income for us. Festivals at the Parklands bring a large number of festival goers to the area whom provide a dump of income into our local economy as well as providing for more jobs in the hospitality, retail and transport industries. I absolutely support the continuation of the Parklends as an operational festival site.

The festival's held at this site are an integral part of Byron Bay life. They provide support to all of the small businesses in the area ( especially with Splendour being held in the quieter Winter months. What I have noticed about the organisers at this site, is that they listen and improve on issues immediately when they are raised. This to me shows great management, and a willingness to work WITH,rather than AGAINST the community. I feel we need to support rather than work against them

RE; Exhibition of Modification Request
Cultural Events Site, North Byron Parklands
APPLICATION No. MP 09_0028 MOD 4

Date, 27/03/2017

I, <REDACTED> of <REDACTED>, Pymble NSW wish to register my objection to Parklands (PL) being given this modification. I grew up in the area (where the application is identified). It was a great safe place for young families.

The reason for my objection is because I feel that for PL to be given this modification would be to reward `bad behaviour'. A precedent has already been set in Victoria - where numerous people attending the concert were arrested because of drugs and/or being drunk.

Numerous breaches of the current consent conditions have occurred.
These breaches have been documented in the minutes of Parklands' Regulatory Working Group, in Parklands' own performance reports, by resident groups (who have done their own monitoring), and very occasionally by the Department of Planning.

Parklands have had ongoing problems with traffic, off-site impacts on residents' amenity, and more. Noise has been an ongoing issue. Noise breaches were common early on, but after an increase in the noise limits was allowed (making compliance much easier) breaches still occurred. Also, the NSW Police recently submitted a report on Splendour 2016 to the DOP, raising concerns about on-site safety, emergency evacuation, and more.

Allowing a lengthy extension in the face of so many problems cannot be justified. The proposed extension would reward Parklands for a job NOT well done.

The time has come when the conditions of the PAC (Planning Assessment Commission) are adhered to. That is, as set out in the agreement accepted by PL, "outdoor events following the trial period will require approval from the Council under part 4 of the EP&A Act".

The time has come for PL to become accountable to the local community and to do what is expected from them and to work with the local community that they are part of. They have had the benefit of state government in getting established and to help them find their feet. Five years was the time given and now it's time to begin working in a partnership. It is unfair and unreasonable for the community for PL to be granted additional approval.

It should also be noted that the Directors of Parklands (Council and others)
have a vicarious liability, not only to those attending the concerts but to the residents and their families.

I fervently hope that you will stand by the PAC conditions of the original conditions of PL approval and deny this modification.

Yours faithfully,
