I am currently employed as an operator at Bloomfield mine. I live close to the mine site and enjoy working and living in the Maitland area where I have lived with my family for 25 years. My wife works for a domestic violence support service that receives funds from the Bloomfield group and is also based in Maitland. I believe that Bloomfield supports local jobs and local businesses and contributes to the nsw government to help provide essential services to the nsw people. When the continuation project is approved I will be able to plan my future work life , living and working in the Maitland area, continuing to contribute to the local economy and provide stability for my family.

I support the ongoing operation of the Bloomfield Colliery as this low impact mining operation is essential for the local community and those in the wider reaches of its employment sphere.
This is an A+ Operation controlled by a reputable organisation that should continue as long as it remains viable.

I support the Bloomfield Colliery Continuation Project.
Bloomfield Colliery has been a valuable and positive contributor to the social fabric of the Lower Hunter Valley.
It has provided royalties and taxes to people of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia, allowing the funding of hospitals, schools, roads and other essential services.
The colliery has provided long term employment and generous local support; lifting the standard of living for many families in the Maitland, Cessnock and Newcastle communities.
The continuation of Bloomfield Colliery will allow these overwhelmingly positive outcomes to continue well into the next decade, while leaving a rehabilitated site that will be far superior in appearance and ongoing land use than would otherwise be the case.
Bloomfield Colliery should be granted approval to continue mining for the benefit of the Lower Hunter Community and the people of New South Wales.

I strongly support the Bloomfield Colliery Continuation Project MOD 5. The Project is clearly a modification and is substantially the same development as originally approved. The benefits of this project both economically and environmentally outweigh the minor impacts. This modification will provide a smaller final void, a better and more functional landform with a demonstrated sustainable grazing landuse which will not preclude any future development if required. The project will resolve a number of historic mining legacies and will provide continued employment for Bloomfield personnel. The project will also provide continued royalties and revenue for the benefit of the people and the State of New South Wales.

I support the continuation of the Bloomfield Colliery. Not only does it employ local people and support our community, but the continuation will help with addressing legacy issues such as old workings, thereby minimising future impacts of subsidence.

I believe the continuation is good for the community as far as it supports families businesses and the community. Bloomfield also supports many charities without their support the charities could struggle to provide help to the needy.Give the extension the green light and watch the region prosper

The benefits of this project both economically and environmentally outweigh the minor impacts. This modification will provide a smaller final void, a better and more functional landform with a demonstrated sustainable grazing land use which will not preclude any future development if required.
The project will resolve several historic mining legacies and will provide continued employment for Bloomfield personnel including by husband. The project will also provide continued royalties and revenue for the benefit of the people and the State of New South Wales.
Mining in the Hunter has provided a livelihood for many families including my family. My husband has worked in the mining industry for nearly 30 years. This has allowed us to provide our three daughters with an excellent education and supported them through their university studies.
Mining has also benefited my career as a civil engineer working in an engineering consultancy where we have been able to provide our services to the mining companies including Bloomfield and surrounding communities. Mining does not only provide a livelihood to the employees of the mine but also external companies who provide services and products to keep the mines going.
My childhood home where my parents still live is across the highway in Metford opposite the TAFE. Growing up, I was not aware that there were mines across the highway. It was only as an adult working as an engineer on projects in these mines that I was made aware of their location. We were not impacted in any way from the mining activities in this area when I was a child and 40 years later my parents are still not impacted by the mining activities in this area now. I believe this is the case for many people living in Metford and Ashtonfield. They are not aware of the mines and are not impacted by them.
I strongly support the Bloomfield Colliery Continuation Project MOD 5, not only because it will directly benefit my family, but it will benefit many other families in the area, the community in general and the state.

I have worked for the bloomfield group for 15 years. I believe this continuation project is important for our local community.
It will provide ongoing local employment. It will provide taxes to the state and federal governments.
Bloomfield is big supporter of our local community organizations.
This continuation will also give the company time to improve the landform, which will benefit the final land use for the area after mining finishes.
