The employment afforded to those in our community, including myself, helps boost the economy in the local area.
Mining has caused little concern over the years in our community and has had minimal effect on the environment.
Centennial Coal supports the local community including Westpac Helicopter, Meals on Wheels at Toronto and Morisset, PCYC and local businesses. We have also held fundraising events including Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, Movember and the Alex McKinnon Foundation just to name a few.
I have six family members employed by Centennial Coal who all need jobs to support family, pay the bills and to educate our children.
The mining industry has been very good to me and I hope this continues into the future. I love my job and don't want to lose it!

The long term future of mining is hugely important in our community. It supports a great number of families, including my own, and we spend our salaries locally. It's important not to forget that, not only do jobs matter to those in the industry, but that the benefit to the greater community is immeasurable.

This project if successfully approved will provide the operational flexibility to safely and efficiently process and handle various coal types which is imperative to maintain the current mine production and employement levels.
The mines in the Lake Macquarie council area contribute heavily to the local communities not only through providing direct employement but also through direct purchasing of supplies from local businesses and engaging local contractors and contracting companies. Without this approval they are unlikely to remain profitable which will directly impact the local community.

The proposal is all existing facilities that have been part of the community for many years and most residents would not even realise this activity was taking place the impact is so minimal.
While supporting the movement against global warming and the need to have clean coal energy or alternatives it is not appropriate to stop existing operations that bring much needed employment to the area & support power generation. Stopping current mines and putting people out of work will only mean coal is sourced from elsewhere and our standard of living is compromised. Need overall solution not just use greenhouse to stop single projects.
Many local businesses and organisations rely on these facilities for work and will be flow on affect to areas of high umemployment.
These are not major changes and as no issues have arisen over past half century I think the proposal should be approved.

Centennial has a good track record of operating in our local area with minimal impacts to the people that live here and the local environment.
Centennial plays a big part in supplying coal for local electricity generation and therefore keeps electricity prices down.
I spend your salary on local businesses and services and thus helping the local economy of the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie region.
This decision directly affects mine and my family's way of life, as well as my employment prospects.

I am an employee of Mandalong Mine.
The Northern Coal Logistics Project will give flexibility to markets for Mandalong and Mandalong South. Mandalong needs this flexibility to be competitive and sustainable in the current economic environment.
I live in the local area and all my four children have grown up and are being educated in the local area.
My job at Mandalong is important to my family as it provides a steady income and security for their future.
I spend my salary in the local area on items such as cars, groceries and appliances.
I am currently renovating my house and using local trade's people.
The royalties that Mandalong pay to the State Government go towards providing services such police, nurses and hospitals.
For every person that Mandalong employs, another five people benefit (eg contractors and service providers)
The Northern Coal Logistics Project is lead by a team of professional engineers and project managers.
It is important to my family and local community that this project be approved.
Yours faithfully
Col Macdonald

If this project did not go ahead then it would have a negative impact on the community (.e.g, employment, local shops, etc).
It would be an advantage to the whole community for this project to go ahead.

I have heard the project's approval would create and maintain over 1000 jobs for the area which would have a huge impact on the local economy, with local businesses being supported by the project and the resources required.
Yes I work in the coal mines and I like the quality of life working in the industry has given me and my family, but i also know of many people who do not work directly in the coal mining industry who share my views. This community needs the mines to continue with the quality of life it has provided us.

When adjustments are to be made to their operations they consult with local stakeholders and provide the safest possible means of transferring the coal from their mines to the local powere stations or the Port of Newcastle for export.
I support Centennial Coal in their development application.
