Centennial are also an active member of the community with very strong involvement in many organisations including the Hunter Business Chamber.
They are a valued member of our community and it is important for the growth of the Hunter that projects of significance such as this continue to happen.

Centennial plays a major part in the supply of coal for the generation of electricity for the state of nsw this must be maintained without question.
The coal plant that I supervise Employs 14 people directly and indirectly employs up to 200 Contractors and others, our families are dependendant on these operations and from this employment our wages are spent here in our local economies.
Centennial has a good track record of operating in our local area with minimal impacts to the People that live here or the environment.
With the current downturn in the mining industry any expansion application to current operations that would bolster the viability of the operation, ensure further employment, ensure elctricity generation requiremnts are met and not impact on the environment must recieve a favourable response to its application.
regards
Garry Lunn.

They participate in local community events such as: Catalina festival, paddle fest, Australia day celebrations, mens shed, community pages in local papers, give to local charities and schools etc.
Centennial Coal also sponsor a number of sporting activities such as the Macquarie Scorpions rugby league team, Sourthern Lakes Cricket Team as well as a number of junior sporting teams.
Centennial Coal provides direct employment to many young men and women, who go on to raise families in the local area and spend their money in the local shops.
To appreciate the positive impact on our local community from Centennial Coal and mining, this area of Lake macquarie only has to be compared with other towns where mining is being scaled back such as Lithgow.
Lithgow has lost employment opportunities at a number of mines and power stations which has massive knock on affects for the community.
The best thing about Centennial Coals operations in the Lake Macquarie region is..... no one really knows where they are operating. This, to me says that they have very little impact on the local environment.
I support the continued growth and strength of this company and its operations. I would hate to see the community be disadvantaged through lack of progress.

Also the salary I earn from Centennial coal I use to support my family and reinvest into local businesses and fundraising activity such as a monthly donation to the cancer council.

The project supports over 500 people in direct jobs and many more via local businesses that offer goods and services to Centennial Coal.
Centennial Coal has a good record of operating in the region with minimum impact to the environment and preserves the well being of the people in the area. It is my understanding that this project will continue to maintain that excellent record.
Centennial Coal is a major supplier of coal to the local power generating facilities and this project will continue to support that supply chain.
Centennial Coal is a great company to work for and offers me and my family and many other families a great lifestyle which enhances the overall economy and quality of life in the Hunter/Central Coast region

I personally rely on this project proceeding to maintain my employment with Centennial Coal.
I also have many workmates who would be adversely affected should the project be rejected by the PACWithout .
I am appreciative of the NSW state government and the money they spend on infrastructure so that my family and I may continue to enjoy the ever increasing standard of living we are provided with.
If the project proceeds, the royalties will continue and the local community of workforce families, local suppliers and contractors that all rely on Centennial for their income can stay on with a company they enjoy and at the place they call home.

I have worked at the Newstan site for 19 years after moving from the country. The company has provided me with full time employment which has endabled me to send my children to LMCC area schools and subsequently Newcastle University. In that time I have been able to build 3 homes in the area and purchased numerous vehicles locally as well as the normal discretionary items purchase at local stores and businesses.
The project opproval is paramount to the continued prosperity of the local community. Without this continued operation of the site into the future, will result in the loss of many jobs and the obvious flow on that would have throughout the community.
I understand that there are absolutly minimal impacts on the surrounding community currently with many residents not even aware of the operation being in existance.
The enormous benefeit and advantages that a project like this would bring to this local area are difficuilt to measure but they will out way any disadvantages 100 times over. It will provide continued employement for over 100 people who by way of their incomes will provided continued prosperity to this local district.
If the project was not to be approved, the community would be a lot worse off and the whole district would be poorer and subsequetly disadvantaged.

I have witnessed firsthand the care that Centennial Coal take with their projects with respect to environmental impact on their surroundings in particular the incredible lengths and expense they take to ensure the absolute quality of run off into the nearby waterways.
We employee 20 local people whom in turn spend their salary's locally, we also have won numerous awards for our training of local apprentices thus assisting many young people over the years to complete their electrical trade and therefore go on to become valuable skilled members of the community again spending their salary's in the local region. The "flow on" effect of these salary's into the local community is significant. Our business like so many is reliant in part by the approval of project such as this.
I personally use Lake Macquarie with my family for numerous hobbies and I would not be supporting this project if I thought that Centennial threaten my way of life, the facts are that this project will NOT have an adverse impact on our local waterways.
So still unsure of the environmental impact ??????? why not make an informed decision rather than just be guided by others ??? contact Centennial Newstan I feel confident they will discuss and or show you (by appointment) their impressive environmental credentials and equipment.

The longevity of coal mining in Australia is critical to our economy. To have a company like Centennial who are dedicated to world class environmental and sustainability standards operating these mines is a supreme advantage. Centennial operations create safe jobs in unavoidably hazardous conditions for local people not only through direct employment but also through deliberate efforts to involve local suppliers of high quality products and services of the many and varied products and services that are necessary to operate a coal mine. The jobs that result, indirectly allow local business not only to exist, but to grow and improve and continue to ensure Australia as a world class economy.
The Northern Coal Logistics Project shows an approach by Centennial try to build some flexibility in to the staging of their infrastructure. This would seem a particularly important and practical approach under the current difficult economic circumstances.
For Quarry Mining alone, Centennial supports the equivalent of approximately 8 full time employees with a current average monthly spend of approximately $311,000. To further demonstrate the strength of the relationship and the synergies of the companies, Quarry Mining and Centennial Coal together support various community initiatives. In particular that of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service whereby Quarry Mining provides a drill bit (the Angel Bit) used in high volumes to all underground mines that contributes approximately $25,000 per year back to the helicopter service. Centennial Coal's support of this product makes that ongoing donation achievable.

Centennial Coal, employees local people, which in turn helps local economy ie employees spend their wages within the community.
If would be devastating if this should not proceed.
