i would like to voice my support for the Northern Coal Logistics Project.
This project will help allow Centennial to continue to support the local community as a major employer and supporter of local businesses and sporting and community groups.
Centennial has a proven track record in setting high standards for there environmental impact.
Approval for this project will assist local coal support industries to continue to rebuild and grow after the recent decline in the coal business, this will be beneficial to countless local families in the lake macquarie region.

I am writing in support of the Northern Coal Logistics Project at Mandalong / Cooranbong and Newstan. rEscan International currently supplies goods and services to Mandalong Mine, and through this it helps support not only our local Morisset based employees, but our Central Coast and Newcastle employees.
The Northern Coal Logistics Project will help to maintain and offer growth for important income streams for government and private enterprise to help support good paying, high and medium skilled local jobs in the immediate vicinity of the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie. If the project fails to proceed there would be a significant opportunity lost for businesses in the region. In a sluggish and slowing economy with an uncertain future, any and all economic activity should be encouraged where the benefits are obvious.
It also helps to ensure our local employees continue to enjoy the benefits of the coastal and lake lifestyle, enabling an improved quality of life for them and their families as opposed to other developments further inland.
Given that the project will also utilise the existing infrastructure and works, this would also limit any possible negative impact to the immediate community amenity in exchange for increased economic activity and the benefits it brings.
If you would like any further comment or have any questions about this submission please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind Regards,
Alan Clout

The last 2 years in the Hunter Valley have shown the significance of the impact on the region of downturn in mining activities. Our hope is that governments realise the significance of projects like this and its not all too late when they do make this realisation.

I have witnessed first hand measures that have been taken to protect the environment at the Newstan site. I am of the opinion that particularly with regards to the management of water this site sets the benchmark for the mining industry.
I believe that the project could proceed with minimal impact on the environment and the community. It will also help increase the efficiency and therefore the sustainability of an important local industry.

Further development of Northern Coal Services Washery will ensure future employment, maintain my family's current lifestyle and keep our family home.
My salary through shopping and actively participating in sports and activities, family holidays and adventures will continue to support the local and hunter region communities and retailers.
The local contracting organisations will have the opportunity to be employed by Centennial's Northern Coal Services Washery and this would help the community to prosper and will be a great help to unemployment in the area.

The company has operated in this area for several decades in one guise or another employing generations of local families and providing support for local charities, sporting teams and schools.
We are a very community minded company and are very proud of our contribution to State and Local Government, local businesses and the community.
With the success of this project there is the very real prospect that the company could double the employment opportunities in the region and provide ongoing support for decades to come.

Centennial has a good record in the local area supporting sporting and community groups as well as businesses. They operate with minimal impact to the local environment and residents.
It is important that this project is approved for the future security and well being of many local families and businesses.

As the main haulage contractor we are continually working with Centennial to improve how we work, to reduce the impact on the local community. Examples of these changes are our main haul trucks that are Euro 5 spec which reduce emmisions and noise with trailers fitted with road friendly suspension reducing road noise.
By not allowing these projects to continue, I believe the impact to the local community will suffer greatly. Centennial employ at great deal of local people (providing traineeships) and local businesses may have reduce staff or shut without Centennial.
Centennial also give back a great deal to the area through sponsorships and also ensure the environment around the surrounding mines are well cared for and regenerated.
