Carne Creek is currently in a pristine state, and its waters that flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area are of the highest standard. Cathedral Cave in the upper Carne Creek is also in the area planned to be undermined and wrecked by Centennial Coal. Centennial Coal is attempting to "lock in" the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive Carne Creek area before the Planning Assessment Commission has decided the matter. They are manipulating the planning system to gain a tactical benefit, namely to set the width of the longwalls as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD 5602 before the Planning Assessment Commission has considered the major extension proposal.

- The proposed first workings being applied for under Modifcation 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003 that are wider than those previously approved and will lead to more environmental damage in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment than was caused in the Wolgan River catchment.

- Centennial Coal is manipulating the planning system to gain a tactical benefit, namely to set the width of the longwalls as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD 5602 before the Planning Assessment Commission as considered the major extension proposal.

This application affects a significant area currently in a pristine state. Adverse effects could threaten the quality of the water and the environment. Currently the area is of immense beauty and is quite unique. There are already mines in the area which have not been profitable or provided high grade outcomes, and the area has been negatively affected. There is no reason to extend the negative affects of mining in this environment.

I object greatly to this proposal going ahead, I grew up in this area & enjoyed many hours hiking from peak to peak of these pristine mountains, we didn't have to take water with us as the water was safely consumable within the area. Future generations will be denied these simple everyday pleasures of immersing themselves & exploring this iconic area, to transform this area into a coal mine is nothing short of criminal for the following reasons.

Carne creek catchment is a sensitive area that contains the best swamps on the Newness Plateau.Even though this is a small proposal in terms of the amount of coal being mined,it is my concern that approving the proposal for the modification of Angus Place mine will create a dangerous precedent.
The Department of planning and infrastructure has already rejected an identical modification recently .It concerns me greatly that Centennial coal is attempting to " lock in" the position of regulatory authorities before the Planning Assesment Commission has decided on the matter.
Centennial Coal must play by the rules, at the very least this proposal needs to be sent to the Planning Assesment Commission.
However it is my strong opinion that this proposal be rejected as Carne Creek must not run bright orange or suffer reduced flows,as has happened to the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal wrecked it.

please protect the gorgeous Gardens of Stone area from degradation... mining fossil fuels is extremely stupid and dangerous and should not be allowed to continue... we should immediately put a stop to any expansions or new mining projects in this field as our climate has already reached a critical tipping point and will become even more erratic and unstable if such practices are allowed to continue.

To Whom It May Concern,

Would like to see no mining happening within the Gardens of Stone which is a priceless and highly valuable piece of environmental heritage.

I would like to see no mining in this area as this would affect waterflow via the Carne Creek which has pristine water that goes through the Blue Mountains World Heritage.

I do not want to see what happened to Wolgan River and Centennial Coal, I do not want to see Carne Creek having reduced flows and the colour of orange from pollution and soil disturbance.

If Modification 4 is to be processed it should be deferred deferred until the major mine extension for Angus Place (SSD5602) is accessed and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission.

I would hope that whoever is making these decisions takes into fact the long long term outcomes that will affect future generations of people on this planet instead of the short term outcomes and profits that are appreciated only by the few.

This proposal amounts to environmental vandalism by stealth and should be rejected outright and /in toto/. Any kind of mining in a catchment area is manifestly inappropriate. Any kind of mining on the periphery of a World Heritage Area is a betrayal of the common trust of the entire world for the sake of the gain of a handful. It is contrary to any form of proper environmental management and should not be countenanced.

Pre-emptive development of roadways and headings for longwalls 1001 and 1003

- The Modification 4 proposal should either be refused or its determination deferred until the major mine extension for Angus Place (SSD5602) is accessed and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission.

- This small amount of proposed mining is not needed for continuity of operations at Angus Place, and I oppose this proposal as it pre-empts decision making for the major mine extension proposal under assessment (i.e. SSD5602).

- Centennial Coal advertised this minor Modification during the exhibition for the major mine extension causing confusion and to be fair all the submissions to Modification 4 and SSD5602 proposals must be considered in relation to both these proposals.

- Centennial Coal must not be allowed consent for Modification 4 over an area where first workings have already been sought and approved last year in a restricted manner that did not preempt decisions on the major extension by the Planning Assessment Commission.

- The proposed first workings being applied for under Modifcation 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003 that are wider than those previously approved and will lead to more environmental damage in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment than was caused in the Wolgan River catchment.

- Centennial Coal is manipulating the planning system to gain a tactical benefit, namely to set the width of the longwalls as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD 5602 before the Planning Assessment Commission as considered the major extension proposal.

- Centennial Coal is attempting to "lock in" the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive Carne Creek area before the Planning Assessment Commission has decided the matter.

- Carne Creek is currently in a pristine state, and its waters that flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area are of the highest standard.

- Carne Creek must not run bright orange or suffer reduced flows, just like the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal wrecked it.

I'm hearten to hear centennial coals proposal to repair after they be been mining and area of significant natural beauty, pristine. However I ask you to refuse permission on this current proposal and cite the significant damage caused to the Wolgan river catchment that this same miner and other have reecked.
There is no repairing no going back subsidents can't undone.
