PLEASE Stop Centennial Coal's dodgy mine modification
A year ago the Department of Planning and Infrastructure ruled out an identical mine modification. Centennial Coal is having two bites at this cherry because the stakes are high. Centennial wants to lock into position all the regulatory authorities behind damaging mining in the Carne Creek catchment. It wants high intensity mining that will wreck the best upland swamps on Newnes Plateau. We have to make Centennial play by the rules. This proposal should be refused outright.

I wish to register my strong opposition to the mine extension of 2,638 hectares of the Newnes Plateau, and the high intensity mining which will entail. To allow the Angus Mine modification project to proceed effectively gives the green light to Centennial Coal to wreck the pristine Carne Creek area. This is totally unacceptable.

Please refuse this proposal by Centennial Coal, and allow us to respect and protect our World Heritage Areas, such as the beautiful and pristine Greater Blue Mountains.

I wish to oppose the proposed mining for coal in the above
mentioned areas .. it would be a serious breach of trust for the area to be mined for a resource which is fast being outmoded as an energy producer and which will have serious repercussions for the land itself which to many is sacred .. i have submitted my objections previously and will continue to do so .. this is heritage not only for first nation but for settlers since such as myself who have immense regard for the area . nothing should be done to jeopardise the pristine quality of this unique heritage .. i'm sure there will be huge support for any movement that seeks to do so

Tthis is such an ancient area steeped in our indigenous cultural heritage, not to mention flora and fauna that exists nowhere else in the world.
Coal is unsustainable and non renewable, once this ancient landscape is destroyed it can never be repaired, think of our future generations as there will be no coal for them, we could at least leave them a living planet.

As the son of a coal miner, I wish to state my strongest objection to this proposal. Centennial Coal is proposing activity in an area
that should not be subjected to this kind of development. It is of far more long term value to preserve this area then allow it to be degraded by the activities of this company.

Carne Creek is currently in a pristine state, and its waters that flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area are of the highest standard and must not be allowed to be polluted, nor the surrounding area undermined. Your Department has a duty of care on behalf of the electorate, and all commonsense would declare this proposal unethical.

Although I do not live in Sydney any more, I have spent much time in the Blue Mountains. When we'd have enough of the city we used to hop in the car and spend the weekend bushwalking and enjoying the peace and beauty of the mountains.

Apart from the fact that morally we do not have the right to steal this beauty from the world or from the future, economically, it is not rational to turn the The Blue Mountains into a mine field. All you have to do is drive through the Hunter Valley to see the awful effects that mining has on nature. The Blue Mountains are one of the natural beauty points that makes NSW attractive to tourists.

Mining is here today and gone tomorrow. It destroys the landscape and makes a lot of money for a few people. Tourism supports the community and is a source of income for many people. The Blue Mountains is home to many animal, plant and insect species. We (the human race) are destroying the habitat of other species at a frightening rate. We forget that we are part of an ecosystem and that no matter how good science thinks it is, it cannot do the work of nature. If the eco-systems die we will not survive - no matter how much men think they are above nature.

And lastly, people do not go to workplaces to relax and unwind - they go to nature - to the bush, to the sea. The outer peace and beauty connects them to inner peace and beauty.

So to allow this place of nature to be spoiled by mining interests, which although they purport to bring prosperity, bring the opposite (go to any place that has been mined and find the truth there), is against the best actions for the public now, and for future generations.

The mines steal the livelihood of so many other professions and works as well as the future of our children and grandchildren. Economically, safety-wise and morally we need to preserve what we have left of nature for ourselves and for future generations.

- Mining companies are gaming the system by making applications for previously refused proposals while other related proposals are still being considered. This creates a series of overlaps which acts to confuse, not to reveal.
