Pre-emptive development of roadways and headings for longwalls 1001 and 1003
*- The Modification 4 proposal should either be refused or its determination deferred until the major mine extension for Angus Place (SSD5602) is accessed and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission.

*- This small amount of proposed mining is not needed for continuity of operations at Angus Place, and I oppose this proposal as it pre-empts decision making for the major mine extension proposal under assessment (i.e. SSD5602).

*- Centennial Coal advertised this minor Modification during the exhibition for the major mine extension causing confusion and to be fair all the submissions to Modification 4 and SSD5602 proposals must be considered in relation to both these proposals.

*- Centennial Coal must not be allowed consent for Modification 4 over an area where first workings have already been sought and approved last year in a restricted manner that did not preempt decisions on the major extension by the Planning Assessment Commission.

*- The proposed first workings being applied for under Modifcation 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003 that are wider than those previously approved and will lead to more environmental damage in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment than was caused in the Wolgan River catchment.

*- Centennial Coal is manipulating the planning system to gain a tactical benefit, namely to set the width of the longwalls as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD 5602 before the Planning Assessment Commission as considered the major extension proposal.

*- Centennial Coal is attempting to "lock in" the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive Carne Creek area before the Planning Assessment Commission has decided the matter.

The Modification 4 proposal should be refused as I feel it is a way for the company involved to pave the way for a major extension proposal.

The area concerned, holds great significance to many people Australia-wide, for its Aboriginal cultural significance; history; beautiful stone formations; and the diversity of native flora and fauna. The sensitivity of the environment must be respected. Carne Creek is a precious resource that requires protection to ensure the fragility of water systems, and dependent systems, is not compromised. The Gardens of Stone is a unique priceless beauty that must be safeguarded for posterity.

This proposal should be sent to the Planning Assessment Commission or refused outright. - Don't let them mine this area

I am opposed to the above proposal on environmental grounds. If it succeeds, the proposed mine will destroy a particularly valuable segment of NSW's environmental heritage. I find it hard to believe that coal mining is even being considered in this area.

Carne creek is in a pristine state. Allowing this proposal to proceed places this habitat at significant risk. These waters flow into the greater world heritage area.

Centennial Coal is attempting to 'lock in' the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive carne creek area, before the planning assessment commission has decided the matter.

The amount of mining of this area is not required for the continued operations at Angus Place.

There is no longer any reason for coal mining companies to be given such leeway to destroy pristine environments in exchange for their noxious product. Coal is a leading destroyer of the environment and is easily replaced by more sustainable methods of power production and materials. It is not right in this time of extreme climate change to keep digging coal out of the ground. Leave the Garden of Stone environment for future generations. We have a responsibility to future generations more than to the greed of a few.

We must not make the same mistakes as we did to the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal wrecket it. Carne creek must not run bright orange or suffer reduced flows. Today's profit must not be made to the detriment of our and our children's future.

I object to the approval of further extraction on Centennial Coals Angus Place Coal mining lease.
My objection is based on the knowledge that current extraction methods do not protect the environment above where the coal is removed in fact it alters the environment irreparably. In fact I Believe that the mining leases currently operating should not be extended but curtailed to protect our states natural environment for future generations.

Carne Creek must not suffer reduced flows. Centennial Coal submits that there would be no measurable impacts to Carne Creek. The impacts on the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal's mining activity demonstrates otherwise with water running bright orange and reduced flows.

The Capertee Valley and Gardens of Stone form a region with significant flora and fauna. It is of concern that there is not a genuinely objective and impartial Environmental impact statement.

Once more, I oppose any coal mining in any part of the Gardens of Stone, Ben Bullen State Forest and adjacent areas such as Carne Creek, which are currently in fine natural condition, and important areas of habitat, scenic beauty and the source of precious drinking water.
The Mod.4 proposal has already been refused once, and should be refused again.

The Modification 4 proposal threatens the sensitive Carne Creek catchment which is currently in a pristine state and its waters flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.
Mining should not be occurring in such an ecologically sensitive and biologically diverse area and must be stopped before more damage is done i.e. the Wolgan River has already been contaminated by Centennial Coal, we should be preventing this happening to Carne Creek.

I operate holiday cabins at Newnes and we as well as the local environment rely on the health of Carne Creek which will be affected by this proposal. I have seen the damage caused by undermining the Wolgan River catchment from Angus Place and I am concerned that the same will now happen to the still pristine Carne Creek.
