Submission as an Objection - Angus Place Colliery
*- Centennial Coal is manipulating the planning system to gain a tactical benefit, namely to set the width of the long walls as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD 5602 before the Planning Assessment Commission as considered the major extension proposal.
*- Centennial Coal is attempting to "lock in" the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive Carne Creek area before the Planning Assessment Commission has decided the matter.
*- Carne Creek is currently in a pristine state, and its waters that flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area are of the highest standard.
*- Carne creek must not run bright orange or suffer reduced flows, just like the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal wrecked it.
*- The Modification 4 proposal should either be refused or its determination deferred until the major mine extension for Angus Place (SSD5602) is accessed and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission.
*- This small amount of proposed mining is not needed for continuity of operations at Angus Place, and I oppose this proposal as it pre-empts decision making for the major mine extension proposal under assessment (i.e. SSD5602).
*- Centennial Coal advertised this minor Modification during the exhibition for the major mine extension causing confusion and to be fair all the submissions to Modification 4 and SSD5602 proposals must be considered in relation to both these proposals.
*- Centennial Coal must not be allowed consent for Modification 4 over an area where first workings have already been sought and approved last year in a restricted manner that did not preempt decisions on the major extension by the Planning Assessment Commission.
*- The proposed first workings being applied for under Modifcation 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003 that are wider than those previously approved and will lead to more environmental damage in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment than was caused in the Wolgan River catchment.
We are visitors to this planet, it is our duty to protect nature and our environment, not destroy places of natural beauty and fragile ecosystems. What are we leaving to our children?
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Yours sincerely,
Catherine Poronnik

Re: Gardens of Stone.
You can't actually be serious about mining this area can you? Coal is losing value everyday, coal furnaces are a dead technology. Not only are the contributions from coal mining to your retirement packages going to be shrinking as the world moves away from this technology. You are not going to have any place to go to to enjoy your retirement. Apart from an open cut coal mine that's worth nothing that is.
Yours Sincerely

I totally object to any mining in any National Park in Australia, but especially in The Gardens of Stone National Park. National Parks are there for all to enjoy in their natural and pristine condition, not decimated by mining companies, who obviously do not care about the environment, or the beauty of these wonderful, natural places or what they are doing now and what catastrophic damage they will cause now and in the future.

I have seen the results of Centennial Coals's activities at Wolgan River and they destroyed what was a pristine river. There is no fine or apologetic stance that can undo this type of damage.

I would like to object to the planned mining within the blue mountains (Lisdale) area that will have a strong negative impact on the landscape.
As this area is heritage listed, it should not be even considered to carry out mining within this areas. Please consider the impact on the future. Providing coal for power is a ancient use and I am sure that within the next few years an alternative form of power will be more efficient. But mining this area can never, ever be rectified. ONCE IT IS DONE, IT IS DONE.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I would ask that the Modification 4 proposal should be refused or suspended until the mine extension for Angus Place is accessed and dealt with by the Planning Assessment commission (SSD5602).
The proposed area is an incredibly gorgeous area of NSW, and the small size of the proposed mining site is not necessary for a continuity of operations at Angus Place. I oppose this proposal as it pre-empts decision making for the major mine extension proposal.
I hold concerns that Centennial Coal advertised this minor modification at the same time and during the same exhibition as the major mine extension to Angus Place, undoubtedly causing public confusion. For this reason, I would ask that Modification 4 and SSD5602 proposals be considered in context of one another to ensure a fair assessment process.
Centennial Coal should not be given consent for the proposed Modification 4. This proposal is over an area where first workings have already been south and approved in a restricted capacity which did not pre-empt decisions on the major extension by the Planning Assessment Commission.
The proposed first workings being applied for under Modification 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003. These are longer than those previously approved and will lead to significantly more environmental damage in this beautiful and sensitive Carne Creek catchment.
- The proposed first workings being applied for under Modifcation 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003 that are wider than those previously approved and will lead to more environmental damage in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment. The damage will be greater than that done to the Wolgan River catchment.
It is quite clear that Centennial Coal has manipulated the planning system to gain a tactical benefit. The Company is attempting to have the width of the longwalls set as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD5602 before the Planning Assessment Commision has considered the major extension proposal. Centennial Coal is attempting to bind the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive area before the Planning Assessment Commision has decided the matter.
As Cairne Creek is currently in a pristine state, this move by Centennial Coal is extremely concerning; particularly considering the Creek's waters flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Any hasty decision or risk of damage to Cairne Creek may then have a flow on effect to an area of great national significance.
After Centennial Coal's operations surrounding the Wolgan River area, the River was an odd hugh of orange and suffered reduced flows. The national significance of potential consequences, the risky nature of a more delicate ecosystem, and the fraudulent intent shown by Centennial Coal by abusing the planning process should not be ignored. For these reasons, I would ask that the Department either reject the proposal outright, or at the very least consider the two submissions together.
I trust that the Department will set a clear precedent that process cannot be used as a weapon of profit and environmental degradation.
I thank the Department for the opportunity to comment on the proposal.
Yours sincerely,
TIMOTHY J MARLEY

The national significance of potential consequences, the risky nature of a more delicate ecosystem, and the fraudulent intent shown by Centennial Coal by abusing the planning process should not be ignored. For these reasons, I would ask that the Department either reject the proposal outright, or at the very least consider the two submissions together.
I trust that the Department will set a clear precedent that process cannot be used as a weapon of profit and environmental degradation.
I thank the Department for the opportunity to comment on the proposal.
Yours sincerely,
TIMOTHY J MARLEY

Dear Sir/Madam,
Submission as an Objection - Angus Place Colliery PA06_0021 Modification 4
Pre-emptive development of roadways and headings for longwalls 1001 and 1003
- The Modification 4 proposal should either be refused or its determination deferred until the major mine extension for Angus Place (SSD5602) is accessed and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission.
- This small amount of proposed mining is not needed for continuity of operations at Angus Place, and I oppose this proposal as it pre-empts decision making for the major mine extension proposal under assessment (i.e. SSD5602).
- Centennial Coal advertised this minor Modification during the exhibition for the major mine extension causing confusion and to be fair all the submissions to Modification 4 and SSD5602 proposals must be considered in relation to both these proposals.
- Centennial Coal must not be allowed consent for Modification 4 over an area where first workings have already been sought and approved last year in a restricted manner that did not preempt decisions on the major extension by the Planning Assessment Commission.
- The proposed first workings being applied for under Modifcation 4 set up longwall mining of panels 1001 and 1003 that are wider than those previously approved and will lead to more environmental damage in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment than was caused in the Wolgan River catchment.
- Centennial Coal is manipulating the planning system to gain a tactical benefit, namely to set the width of the longwalls as a precedent in the sensitive area proposed for future mining under SSD 5602 before the Planning Assessment Commission as considered the major extension proposal.
- Centennial Coal is attempting to "lock in" the position of regulatory authorities regarding damaging mining in this sensitive Carne Creek area before the Planning Assessment Commission has decided the matter.
- Carne Creek is currently in a pristine state, and its waters that flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area are of the highest standard.
- Carne creek must not run bright orange or suffer reduced flows, just like the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal wrecked it.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Yours sincerely,
Eileen Fletcher

To Whom This May Concern,
Submission as an Objection - Angus Place Colliery PA06_0021 Modification 4
Pre-emptive development of roadways and headings for longwalls 1001 and 1003
It is my belief that the Modification 4 proposal should either be denied or at least deferred until the major mine extension for Angus Place (SSD5602) is accessed and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission.
Centennial Coal advertised this minor Modification during the exhibition for the major mine extension causing confusion and to be fair all the submissions to Modification 4 and SSD5602 proposals must be considered in relation to both these proposals.

Carne creek must not run bright orange or suffer reduced flows, just like the Wolgan River after Centenial Coal's influence.
