Ceiling fans in daytime habitable spaces

You must install at least one ceiling fan in a daytime habitable space such as living room if your dwelling is located in the National Construction Code (NCC) climate zone 5.  The number and size of ceiling fans required depend on the size of the daytime habitable space and are listed in the table below:

You can choose to install ceiling fans in daytime habitable spaces if your dwelling is located in other climate zones to reduce your cooling load.

By installing ceiling fans in a house, you are effectively reducing the cooling load to some extent in warm and temperate climate zones. 

By installing ceiling fans in bedrooms, you will reduce the cooling load in warm and temperate climate.
