Draft Wilton Growth Area Housing Complying Development Code

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has worked with Wollondilly Shire Council to prepare the draft Wilton Growth Area Housing Complying Development Code. The Explanation of Intended Effect (EIE) details the provisions which would be included in the draft Code.

The draft Code will:

  • be based on the Greenfield Housing Code but customised to deliver the vision for the Wilton Growth Area outlined in Wilton 2040 – a Plan for the Wilton Growth Area  and the Wilton Growth Area Development Control Plan 2021
  • be applied initially to low density residential areas in the North Wilton and South East Wilton precincts.
  • enhance and reinforce the unique landscape character and biodiversity values of Wilton and promote resilient new urban residential areas.
  • ensure every new home in low density residential areas of the Wilton Growth Area has the space for at least one tree in both the front and back yards.
  • help to speed the delivery of new homes once a neighbourhood plan and subdivision development applications are approved in these precincts.

The draft code was on exhibition from 23 August to 20 September 2021. All submissions and feedback are being carefully considered, with the Code anticipated to be finalised later this year.
