Proposed short-term-rental accommodation reforms

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and the Department of Customer Service sought feedback on the draft instruments and Regulations that will introduce the statewide planning framework and mandatory Code of Conduct for short-term rental accommodation (STRA). This will help us better understand the opinions and concerns of the community, which inform the Government’s decisions.

The proposed changes are outlined in a Discussion Paper, which also sought feedback about introducing a new industry-led STRA property register.

The department has published all submissions received in response to the exhibited Discussion Paper. You can view the submissions and exhibited documents in dropdowns below.

Additionally, submissions previously received on the STRA planning framework Explanation of Intended Effect, exhibited between 5 October 2018 until 16 November 2018, have been published on our Planning Portal website.

More information on the STRA planning framework can be found at planning.nsw.gov.au/STRA.
