Sopa already has sufficient hotels and office space in the precinct and the addition of these large towers will place additional strain on the roadways and parking in the area. I live in neighbouring Newington and it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive through sydney Olympic Park with the additional residences and events that have already been developed. This proposed development will also adjoin the brickpit which has been identified with special species such as frogs and wildlife. Building so close with dust and noise will disrupt this delicate ecosystem and may change the dynamic of the ecosystem with change of wind patterns and casting shade due to the enormous size of the structure.
I think further investigation into current office vacancy rates and overall need for offices in the general area. Surely it would be better placed in Parramatta which has been earmarked as the next big business hub.
I would also expect if there are additional people travelling into the area it will put further strain on the public travel network. The buses are already over capacity and late.
I object to this development and note this area is used for parking and the Easter show. If people are unable to utilise parking in the precinct then the natural effect would be more of those people seeking to park in Newington. Many local residents have been unable to access their homes with people parking across driveways and reports that emergency vehicles cannot pass through narrow streets due to event and overflow parking from Sydney olympic park. I think this development will adversely effect the residents of Newington and Wentworth point and visitors.
