The State's planning team should condition any consent for this development to require solar arrays across the roof. It is not acceptable for a development of this scale and typology to fail to include an independent source of power through installation of rooftop solar power. Solar panels installed would reduce the additional strain on the local grid network. NSW has committed to net zero emissions by 2050 and developments such as these present opportunities to increase the amount of independent, decentralised low emissions energy generation that will contribute to meeting this target. I submit that the applicant should be required to consult with a solar engineer and include solar installation to the maximum capacity practicable prior to the development receiving an occupation certificate (likely to be approximately 1MW of solar)
