To whom it may concern,

I am a concerned parent of a current Kindergarten child at Darlington Public School (with another child commencing Kindergarten in the new year). I am concerned for the health & wellbeing of all the children and staff of Darlington Public School for the duration of the Abercrombie Precinct development.

Where as I support any project that will enhance learning and development of tertiary students, I strongly object to such developments where they have adverse affects of the learning and development of our youngsters and the stresses this places on our teachers.

I assist in the Kindergarten classroom between the hours of 9am &11am once a week & have experienced first hand the noise & vibration levels in this classroom (closest classroom to the development site). It is extremely loud & disruptive even with classroom doors closed. The noise level is unacceptable during the hours of 9-11am as this is the most important learning time of the day.

The "Acceptable"noise level of 73dB set by John Holland is above the acceptable limits indicated in the NSW Industrial Noise Policy. These limits indicate 55dB external & 45dB internal.

I am also concerned with the dust & particulate matter stirred up with construction. I believe additional measures have already been put in place to address this issue, but I feel the monitoring (and ongoing monitoring) of such is also inadequate.

I fully support the attached objection to the development and the proposed additional condition that need to be met before continuation of the development.

I have no doubt that the Abercrombie Precinct will be a wonderful place for higher education, and a great asset to the community, but I believe the current students & teachers of Darlington Public School deserve far more consideration than what they have been given to date. The education of our local youngsters is just as important as the education of those who will be attending the new business school.

Sincerely
Clare Davidson

I am not convinced that adequate measures are in place to ensure this development does not affect our children's heath and learning over the 3 years construction

Parents and Carers of the children at Darlington Public School are extremely concerned about the impacts from this development on the 1. Health 2. Learning of our children. We request that the University and the developer undertake the following works to the school (as outlined in attachment).

The school community, in general, is supportive of the development provided the University/Developers can ensure that the health of our children and their opportunity for learning is preserved.

There is a feeling among parents and carers that this can be achieved with the University/Developers adhering to the requests as outlined in the attachment.

thanks for your consideration
