Objection to SCEGGS Redland School concept proposal SSD 6454
We have reviewed the plans and documents lodged in respect of the Proposal and object to the proposal as the impacts will be significant to health, privacy, living on our property.
Our property is one a number of townhouses, adjacent to the southern boundary of the school. The rear northern boundary of our property abuts the school boundary. The outdoor courtyard, living area and bedrooms face the current low level school buildings which are about the same height than the boundary fence. We are owners / occupants who work from home.
- Noise - New driveway passing from west to east along our boundary will create exhaust fume and noise by buses and trucks getting access to proposed new garbage area. Also the applicant proposes one of the largest buildings on the site, a 4 storey multi-use building, referred as the Humphery Learning Hub (Humphery Building) with a roof top swimming pool which will be used for training and swimming events, to be constructed in front of the row of townhouses. We shall be subjected to high levels of noise, traffic and smell.

- Shadowing - The excessive height of the Humphery building (significantly above height compliance of North Sydney Development Control Plan 2013 requiring solar access to adjoining properties) will result in total shadowing during winter months to our property. The ground floor living room and outdoor courtyard are facing the school. Growing mould and humidity would exacerbate asthma condition. During winter, it is difficult to keep the place warm due to the open space design so we rely on solar access during the day.

- Privacy - The proposed Humphery Building will result in more students being able to look into our courtyard, living room and bedrooms. Users of the proposed internal road access will be able to see into our property.
The proposal in its current form should be refused on the basis that the impacts of Stage 4 and the internal road and garbage room are unacceptable in relation to solar access, noise and privacy to neighbouring properties.

We are in strong support of this application. Redlands provides local families with the option of a good co-educational private school, there are not many others around the area. It is well documented that schools like Redlands are in increasing demand . It is in everyone's interest that the schools facilities are upgraded to better use the space they have available to them. Better use of the space will also help the school better & more safely manage the traffic and movements of students in and around the school.

I am a Redlands parent with children currently in years 8, 6 and 4. I am strongly in support of the Redlands Master Plan and Stage 1 development. Redlands Senior Campus is in need of a high quality upgrade of their facilities and recreational space for students and staff to continue their high standard of education. I think Stage 1 of this development will give the students more green outdoor space and upgraded facilities they desperately need. I commend everyone involved in this project as I believe great care has been taken to minimise disruption and it will greatly benefit both the school and community.

I am the father of a child in the redlands Prep school. I fully support stage one, and the whole Master plan. It is wonderful that the school acknowledges that the current learning environment is outdated and that the proposed development will better educate students and give them the best opportunity as they transition into the workplace. I think it is exciting for students, teachers and the community to see the school move from the past and into the future.

We have been Redlands parents since 2002 and will remain Redlands parents until our third child finishes Yr12 in 2020. Over the years the school has continually strived to grow and develop for the betterment of its students and teachers. The Redlands Master Plan is a major undertaking by the school that would have a tremendous positive effect for all, and as a result we very much support it. The Stage 1 development would transform the senior school and improve how students are taught and how classes are delivered across a number of core subjects. The stage 1 development would be very much purpose built and would not only greatly improve the aesthetic of that location it would also serve to make teaching and learning more fun and more productive. Moving forward we feel that the obvious benefits of the Master Plan and Stage 1 of the development would be felt not only within the school community but across the surrounding community as well.

Thank you for the opportunity make submissions.

We fully support the Redlands Senior Campus Master Plan and the initial Stage One development of it.

As parents of students in Years 3 and 5 at Redlands, we see the development proposed to the Senior Campus as further evidence of Redlands' committment to excellence in education. While physical facilities are only one component of facilitating a high quality education for children, the fundametal shifts in the nature of work that are occurring and will continue to occur mean that schools must also evolve in the way in which learning occurs. Part of this is ensuring much greater flexibility and many more options in the nature of the physical environment in which teaching and learning - in all its forms - occurs.

To this end, we commend the Redlands Board and executive leadership on the vision presented in the Master Plan. It will ensure Redlands continues to deliver on its commitent to students.

Education is, of course, key to maintaining Australia as "The Lucky Country" and ensuring opportunities for both personal, and national, prosperity. The Redlands Master Plan is reflective of this goal.

Further, as soon-to-be residents of the Mosman local area, we consider the significant enhancement of the school in the manner outlined in the Master Plan will deliver significant benefits to the local community.

We urge the NSW Government to approve and support the application.

We are parents of a daughter in year 12 at Redlands. We are in favour of this exciting DA due to the benefits it will provide to future students of the school and the overall community. We believe the Redlands Learning Hub is vital for the growth of the school while creating a state of the art learning facility that is certain to attract parents into the area. The hub will cater for students in the very best way by providing flexible and collaborative learning facilities similar to those found in the best schools internationally.
This DA will increase sport and recreational facilities on the site for students (which is greatly needed) and will allow for out-of-school access by the wider community. The other major positive we see for this development is the dramatic improvement it will create to the surrounding streetscape.
Warm Regards

I am writing in support of Redlands Development Application for the Staged Deveopment of its Senior Campus and the development of stage 1 construction of the new Learning Hub.
I have a daughter in Year 8 at Redlands School who has very much benefitted from the development of the Junior Campus at Redlands. This Senior Campus development will provide a significantly enhanced learning environment for both current and future Redlands students as well as improving the visual aesthetics of the campus for the local community.
Yours sincerely, Michael O'Toole
