Honeysuckle Drive is almost waterfront. All other buildings in that row
are only around 5 storeys high. We feel it is not in keeping to have a
9 storey (8?) building adjoining. Such a high building will block
vistas and outlooks from the buildings further back from the
waterfront.

I am lodging an objection to this development as I (along with many
others) am the owner of a residential lot within the strata titled
residential apartment block known as The Cove Apartments situated in
Bellevue Street Newcastle West. The proposed development would stand
in front of the rear of The Cove building and will effectively close
out views to the working Harbour for all residents/occupiers of The
Cove apartments who are living in lots facing the water/harbour. The
selling point/prospective value of these apartments will be
significantly compromised if the proposed development of 42
Honeysuckle Drive is permitted to proceed as the Doma development
would be situated directly in front of The Cove apartments and
adjacent to Cottage Creek and would effectively block the views of the
water and landscape surrounding it to the residents of The Cove
apartments and this is highly undesirable. The Cove apartments were
constructed in 2000/01, long before Doma came along, long before the
rail corridor was decommissioned and long before it was decided by
authorities that it was ok to sell off the land adjacent to the
corridor and encroach on the quiet enjoyment and the views of those
who have been in the area for many years prior. Not happy, I object to
this development, it will devalue my apartment and indeed others in
the area, the development should be moved out of the way (line of
sight) of existing residential buildings.

The proposed building of nine storeys is preventing the enjoyment of two
residential blocks to the West of the development and should be
restricted to a low level development. Eg have below street level
parking, Utilise all the block and restrict overall building height to
six floors.

Hunter Water has issued a Formal Notice of Requirements for the proposed
development (copy attached for your information) which contains Hunter
Water's conditions. Basically there is sufficient water and sewer
capacity available for the proposed development. There are some other
minor conditions as detailed in the Notice. Hunter Water would
appreciate a condition of consent to the effect that a Section 50
Compliance Certificate be required prior to the issue of any
Construction Certificate is issued. This gives Hunter Water surety
that its conditions will be met. If you have any questions, please do
not hesitate to contact me.
