Subject: Comprehensive Feedback on Bank Street Project, Including Parking Concerns

To whom it may concern

I am writing to express my overall support for the proposed Bank Street project, which holds significant potential for community development. The thoughtful planning and design considerations are commendable, and I appreciate the council's dedication to enhancing our community.

However, I would like to bring to your attention a matter of grave concern that has been echoed within the community, particularly among the dragon boat clubs operating in the area. The availability of sufficient parking for these clubs is a critical element that requires thorough examination. The current limited parking accessibility for dragon boat enthusiasts, coupled with the potential reduction due to the project, poses significant challenges to their activities.

As an advocate for the project, I understand the inherent need to balance various community needs. Nonetheless, it is crucial to address the concerns of specific user groups, such as the dragon boat clubs, to ensure their continued engagement within the community. I respectfully request that the council conducts a detailed analysis of the potential impact on parking availability for these clubs and actively seeks solutions to mitigate any adverse effects.

In addition, the lack of information regarding proposed parking costs is a matter of concern. Transparent communication on this matter is essential to allow residents and organizations, including the dragon boat clubs, to plan accordingly and make informed decisions.

Regrettably, the absence of clear information about parking for the proposed project has compelled our dragon boat club to explore alternative training locations. This decision is driven by the need to ensure the continuity of our activities in light of the uncertainties surrounding parking provisions.

In conclusion, while I wholeheartedly endorse the Bank Street project for its positive contributions to community development, I urge the council to address the raised concerns about parking availability for dragon boat clubs. It is my sincere hope that the council will consider these concerns seriously and collaboratively work towards finding a balanced solution that accommodates the diverse needs of our community.

Thank you for your attention to these matters, and I look forward to witnessing the continued positive development of our community.

Sincerely,
Nicholas George Barker-Pendree

I strongly support Concept 3. Please make sure the continuous boardwalk/promenade is 30 metres wide for accessibility. Please include netball shooting hoops. The sandstone and timber elements are excellent in concept 3.

One of my concerns is the height of the new buildings proposed (up to 35 storeys) on the old fish market site and the Poulos Bros site. These are too high and should be reduced in size to reduce shade impact, wind tunnel effect, and to not dominate the skyline.

I am also concerned about the future traffic flow on Bank Street with the proposal to build 1,200 apartments plus commercial buildings. The additional number of cars will have a flow on impact on Bowman St and Miller St, Pyrmont. While supporting the activation of Black Wattle Bay it must be done in a sensitive and sustainable manner. The Pyrmont Metro will not be ready until approximately 2030 per the NSW government website so this will not alleviate transport issues until it is operational.

I would also strongly encourage dedicated charging docs for rented e-bikes to stop them being an obstacle to the general public when they are just left across pathways.

Thank you.

I support the proposal and commend the planners for accommodating the range of park and waterway users.

My query is whether or not individual owner of passive watercraft will have access to the parkland and boat ramp. It appears that a lot of space is, rightly, made available to Dragon Boat clubs. However, do owners of kayaks and other small craft have the ability to lease space in storage racks for their use?

Thank you

I am a local resident and am very pleased with the exhibited outcome - I think the NSW Government has done a great job.
This is a much-needed new park for the Pyrmont community and visitors alike. I also support the commercial marina given the demand for boating in the harbour and the current overloads of boats in other areas such as Darling Harbour and Pyrmont Bay.

I am concerned at the lack of attention addressed to the existing Black Wattle Bay (BWB) Marina operation (All Occassion Cruises) in the EIS.
Questions:
1. Is it intended that the current operations of BWB Marina continue while Phase 1 of the development is being constructed?
2. Will access and current facilities (Office and Storage containers) be available to BWB Marina staff and contractors during this period.
3. Will the current proprietor move into the new Marina Office when Stage 1 is complete and before Stage 2 begins?
4. What access and on site car parking will the available to the current Proprietor while Stage 2 is being built?
5. The EIS doesn't address the issue of waste materials from the Party Boats, which is significant. Where will this waste be stored? How will it be managed for disposal?
6. What is planned for the Party Boats holding tanks pump out evacuation system?
7. Will the current pump out system be retained? It regularly produces obnoxious sewerage odours which would not be healthy for a parkland.
8. Will the Marina berths remain private and shut off from the public as it is currently? We were led to believe that once the BWB Marina lease expired after the initial 5 years, the marina berths would become a public facility for recreational use.
9. I understand TfNSW will manage the Marina. Is it intended to provide a new lease to the current operator for him to operate All Occassion Cruises from the new facility?
10. BWB Marina often has 10 -12 vehicles parked in the existing compound at any time, the Transport Appendix does not include these vehicles in its assessment.

Pyrmont Elder Marcus Andrews
Yuin man and Gadigal Elder has a submission to present for a multicultural centre for the site
This has many support letters from Community and addresses the sites existing native plants that have been there since the 1980s, the sites heritage and significance including the sites location in proximity to a spring water source and history as a midden and location as a birthing site for Aboriginal women, information about preserving the shoreline and plants, and workshops to share teach and preserve culture
The proposal by flattening the existing site and destroying the existing tress shrubs and wildlife destroys a whole ecosystem and the organic shoreline down to the harbour thats been caretaken with a lot of care since 1980
By putting a path through this area Aboriginal people will loose this space to gather, yarn teach and share in privacy and enter the harbour on nawi and foot and fish traditionally and share this freely with others in workshops and in person
The new basketball court is excellent and can be expanded over the carpark area and the dragon boat area is working really well and the path could be shaped over the xisting concrete around te nature reserve to allow the site to continue and be shared with everyone ina new multi culturak arts and culture centre on site as the heritage boat club moves out and the shipping conatiners are removed
The scarred tree on site also needs to be preserved and cared for

Thankyou
