government plan for the renewable transition has been rejected and discredited even by the
government’s own frontbenchers. Despite this, policymakers and politicians are pushing ahead
with these policies without a replacement model and one that reveals the total system costs. "

"The AEMC should aim for principles-based regulation focusing on consumer protection
rather than an outcomes-based approach that views increased CER uptake and
coordination as an end in itself. Consumers should be able to choose to participate in the
CER market or not, according to their willingness to bear risks associated with becoming
traders of electricity rather than simply consumers.

The responsibility for reducing electricity-related emissions and ensuring the grid can
handle peak demand lies with generators, governments, network service providers and
grid operators. These entities are well placed to handle increasing complexity and risk.
The review should bear this in mind and avoid shifting the increasing complexity and risk
of maintaining cheap, reliable, and clean electricity onto unwilling consumers — the
majority of whom do not own solar panels, home batteries, or EVs. ", highlighting the need for AEMC to focus on consumer protection and giving consumers the right and ability to participate in the market or not.

And finally Daniel Wild succinctly notes, " “Australians who lose their jobs in agriculture, mining, and manufacturing because of a net zero

across the Australian economy, compared with agriculture (3.1% of all jobs), mining (2.5% of all

account for 13.5% of all jobs.
The new research also identi ed that the renewable energy sector accounted for only 1% of all net
jobs created since 2010.

This project presents significant and unresolved risks across eight key domains: (1) unlicensed and excessive water use in an over-allocated catchment; (2) disruption to biodiversity corridors and land use conflict; (3) unmitigated hazards involving ammonia and hydrogen handling; (4) multiple breaches of NSW and Commonwealth law, including under the EPBC Act, WHS Regulation, and Water Management Act; (5) failure to assess or account for cumulative impacts and emissions; (6) absence of First Nations consultation and cultural heritage assessment; (7) lack of effective community engagement and emergency preparedness; and (8) no enforceable plan for decommissioning or rehabilitation.

Key legal deficiencies include the failure to refer the project under the EPBC Act, the absence of required licensing as a Major Hazard Facility, non-compliance with Environment Protection Licensing obligations, and unlicensed industrial water extraction. The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) fails to meet the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements and omits critical statutory and procedural information, rendering the application incomplete and legally deficient.

The AEMO has stated that the NEM grid capacity will need to increase by many times the current capacity to accommodate the huge electricity demands that hydrogen manufacturing would need. Very much more energy is needed to make hydrogen from electrolysis of water than the hydrogen delivers when burnt. This means more immediate increases in CO2 from imported Chinese-made wind turbines, solar panels and lithium batteries. It means more destruction of Australia's meagre 4% of arable land and food-producing capacity. It means more destruction of wildlife habitats and wilderness areas. It means a massive waste of resources of many types, including from increased mining, increased process and manufacturing waste, frequent turbine, solar and batteries capacity replacement and massive waste disposal issues. The so-called Green Hydrogen Project will exacerbate these already undesirable results of expanding "renewables" electricity generation, building new transmission lines, increasing battery storage and flooding wilderness areas for pumped hydro.
Electricity prices will continue to increase for consumers and the project will have no effect on the climate.

I oppose this project as it is just one of many that will cumulatively destroy our country life-style and country environment, which will be devastating for decades, including for tourists.

Despite decades of rolling out wind and solar plants in many countries the CO2 emissions still rise every year. Wind and solar projects, including this proposed "green" hydrogen project, just make no difference. I object to any project that costs me heaps for no benefit at all. Don't approve this useless project!
