Sensible location. Plenty of parking and overflow parking. Very close to good transport lines (trains and buses). It also fits with the character of the locality ... which is dominated by the McDonald Jones Stadium ... sporting facilities ... bowling and leagues clubs. Plus it is close to two prominent high schools.

I absolutely support this project to proceed on the proposed site across from the Knights stadium. This site provides excellent access to transport systems, accommodation options and is accessible from all parts of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and further field due to the arterial roads that link this area.
Due to the number of sports represented at the indoor stadium, it will be busy across every day of the week and night and weekends with many people travelling from interstate to utilise this venue. The local community will benefit economically from this project.
The argument that this green space area is used by the community already is true however The Hunter indoor sports stadium usage will by far exceed and excel in providing a sporting complex to vastly more people and vastly more sports. Newcastle is deserving of a state of the art multi use indoor sports facility. This will be situated within a short distance of other high calibre sporting codes which will deliver a spectrum of elite performance opportunities in a developing precinct. This is an outstanding plan for Newcastle sport in general. I wholeheartedly support this project to proceed at the location proposed.

We need this stadium, it's crazy that there are 150 soccer fields in Newcastle and only 6 indoor basketball courts, when the number of people who want to play or missing out is massive and growing.
The current ones are an embarrassment and not good enough that we've been waiting for so long for a new stadium, just build it already, the money is there, the people complaining are just selfish.

This location is not appropriate for following reasons:
- severe loss of amenity for local residents l, i feel incredibly sorry for them if this goes ahead
- value of local homes decrease with no compensation
-noise
- loss of green space
- PARKING. With capacity of 2500 there will not be enough parking without overflowing to surrounding streets which will just replicate the chaos experienced whenever there is a big game at MJ stadium and it becomes dodge the pedestrian.
- previous submission period showed clear opposition to this location (and I am sure there would have been more objections if it was easier to make a submission) so I am baffled why money and time is being wasted repeating it.
- other locations with less impact on the surrounding neighbourhood have been suggested

This is a far-sighted project that will really support fitness and sporting activity and, in this regard, put Newcastle on the sporting map. It will hence be able to host major events, develop local talent, and increase the well-being of the local population. A truly wonderful initiative.

My issues and reasons for objection to the development of this project:
1. Parking: Overflow parking for events "park in adjacent streets". My husband and I already live in a busy area where many cars are parked on narrow streets. When our family come to see or help us, they will have nowhere to park. We also have concerns that and feeling very anxious about emergency vehicles not being able to enter the street when cars are parked on both sides. we are elderly and falls and medical conditions requiring regular services and sometimes emergency services. In addition we live very close to a footbridge so our street will be one of the first to be parked in.
2. Flooding: Concern that there will be an increased risk of flooding. This area already has frequent issues with flood due to the stormwater drain overflowing. What will happen when 3.85 ha of green space is concreted over? Where will the runoff go? Flood insurance for our property is already very high, can you ensure that i will be able to access and afford flood insurance moving forward?
3. Lambton High School: Concern for the 1200 students who will have lost their green space. The next nearest oval will require the crossing of roads. Students will have less time for their outdoor sports play and learning, there will also be increased risk to students and significant impact on teachers, especially the students and teachers in the 8 support classes.

I support the Hunter Indoor Basketball project.
As a member of the Newcastle Basketball association as well as a parent year in year the current stadium is not meeting the needs of the fast growing sport both a junior and senior level.
The location is within a current sporting precinct with public transport and infrastructure in place.
Should the project not be supported by local and federal governments it will leave disengaged youth.
I drive past the proposed site daily and see how unutilised the space has/is becoming. You have a massive Basketball community and the potential to invite both domestic and international games to our local community which will allow Basketball in Newcastle to grow.
Please support the kids and families that rely on the Basketball stadium for their sense of community and belonging. Along with all the health benefits.

The Hunter Indoor Sports Centre (HISC) is a key piece of infrastructure that Newcastle and the surrounding area require to support indoor sport in the area. A number of sports & their development are suffering greatly with the lack of quality venues.
In particular, Volleyball has extremely limited access to venues in the Hunter. This lack of access has required Hunter Volleyball to dramatically reduce their available programs at all levels. Players are forced to travel extensively to play competitively in this sport. Our family has spent countless hours & money travelling to Sydney to develop our son as a volleyball player.
The region truly deserves a venue that the volleyball community can continue to create an environment of excellence, competitive development and a facility were individuals of all ages come together.

I HAVE CONCERNS IN REGARD TO THE ALREADY EXSISTING GRIDLOCK AT PRECEEDING AND FOLLOWING SPORTING/ENTERTAINMENT EVENTS EVENTTHE LOSSS AT THE EXSISTING MC DONALD JONES STADIUM AND ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE. WE HAVE NARROW LANES (CHILDREN PLAY IN, AND VISTORS PARK BLOCKING OUR DRIVEWAYS) THAT WHICH VEHICLES EXITING USE A SHORTCUTS/RACEWAY TO TRY AND EXPEDIATE THEIR DEPARTURE. THE LOSS OF GREEN SPACE AND PLAYING FIELDS FOR THE AJOINING HIGHSCHOOL OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL ATTEND AND VARIOUS SPORTING CODES WOULD BE VERY DEPREMENTAL TO OUR COMMUNITY. THERE ARE ALSO FLOODING ISSUES THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN RESOLVED.

I think most people would agree that a new basketball stadium is required - my son is currently part of the Future Falcons programme so I see it first hand - but this is not the right site for it.
Green spaces should be protected; once gone, they are gone forever. These ovals are used by schools and community sports clubs and their loss would have a hugely detrimental impact. And that does not even take into account the casual usage by local residents. My son flew his first kite there, threw his first boomerang and bowled his first leg spinner, amongst many other things! Countless other children and adults use these fields to play, to learn and to exercise both mind and body. They are a hugely important local resource that contribute to physical and mental health and the quality of life of the neighbourhood. This should be cherished and protected. A new basketball stadium should not be built on precious green land. I appreciate that makes finding a suitable site harder but that is no reason to shrug our shoulders and diminish the environment for current and future generations.
I have additional concerns over parking, which is pretty chaotic already when the Knights are playing. Adding another stadium into the mix is a bad idea and unfair on local residents.
I am also concerned about the impact of this development on an area already prone to flooding. Year on year, we are seeing more (and more prolonged) heavy rain events. We should be mitigating the associated risks, not exacerbating them.

Newcastle Basketball’s existing stadium is many years past it use by date. While the site is not ideal the state government and council cannot provide anything more suitable therefore I support the project at the Lambton site.
While extensive investigation has been done on flooding and traffic flow the basketball association & council need all the professional help and ongoing planning to get these two areas right. Locals are concerned. They need to be reassured that all is being done to protect their living standards and home investments
The positive is the ongoing community growth and development of the sporting precinct with a first class facility for basketball and other venue users. As a key regional centre this will ensure all user groups can grow their participation levels and sporting profiles.
Please work together to get the best outcome
Government support and expertise is a must to ensure this is delivered successfully and all sectors of the NSW community benefit.

Let's keep Wallarah and Blackley ovals as multi purpose, open green space for the enjoyment of an ever expanding population in the city of Newcastle. Serious concerns include flooding, parking, recreational use, school activities, outdoor sports activities e.g football and cricket. These areas are what make Broadmeadow and New Lambton so special. Please spend the time and find a suitable location for an indoor sports complex to service Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter.
