This is a much needed facility for the hunter region to support the many popular and growing indoor sports, especially basketball. This supports children and adults to get active, and with so much rain or late it’s critical we have indoor facilities to keep people active. We have many and various outdoor grass fields, so the impact of losing one field is minimal at the macro level when considering what the region gains from this great project

There is a huge need for this in the newcastle region. The location that has been proposed is the best area for being central for all current players. The current stadium is always busy and basketball is growing. Often the proposed grass area is not being used and having the stadium near McDonald Jones stadium and hockey centre just makes sense. The longer the proposal takes the more children play in an old venue that leaks when it rains

The benefit of a new facility in the local sporting precinct outweighs the negatives. We are seeing too many young people be turned away from basketball due to no space or room.
Professionally, we are losing basketball people due to not being able to host / nominate teams into tournaments and professional basketball.

As a resident of Lambton with three students at Lambton High School I wholeheartedly OBJECT to the erection of the major stadium development on the Wallarah Oval green space. This oval is used on a daily basis by students and sporting clubs, and is a key public green space in our community. The disruption such a building project will cause to our LHS students in terms of the loss of sporting facilities and the noise pollution they will endure each week day over a three year period feels grossly negligent. Without these fields, our children will have no opportunity to exercise during PDHPE, PASS and breaktimes with other ovals in the area sanctioned for professional leagues. Additionally, as a resident of Young Road, we are already inundated with cars when McDonald Jones Stadium has an event, we can not imagine the chaos another major stadium will cause to an already burdened suburb. We know you are already well aware of the flooding which takes place in the area, and again suggest extreme negligence in proceeding with plans to build in light of this. With large tracks of land available across the road in the Broadmeadow Sporting Precinct, all residents of Lambton fail to understand why there is such an insistence to build on this clearly unsuitable site of which the community opposes. Please listen to the pleas of your ratepayers and decline this proposal.

I support the project as it is long overdue. Although I do not live in the council area, I do use the basketball indoor facility as a Pickleball player on a regular basis.
To me it should provide a better facility for all users, but as Pickleball has been the little brother of the current indoor stadium, I am hopeful that this may change as we in Newcastle are restricted in offering what many smaller regional centres do, and host tournaments.
However at present the new facilities have to be built and all users, including badmitton, netball, basketball and Pickleball have to have a say in it's use into the future. Not just at the whim of one of these sports as has been the case to date.
Looking forward to the future.

As an active volleyball player I support this project, the current court availabilities are insufficient to meet our growing needs as a sport gaining popularity in the hunter, with constant byes and weeks off as we try to space out so many players on such little court time

In addition, with the plan for the current stadium being highly uncertain post-2028, I'm worried we won't have a home at all for our sport, we have been trying to find alternate sites to play but none are truly suitable

In terms of location, I believe this development will be perfectly placed to cater to the growing needs of our city in the next 30 years, particularly accounting for the Broadmeadow Place Strategy creating new transport corridors and a new town centre

I have been involved in basketball in Newcastle for over 50years and its time we had an upgrade to our growing sport. We are bursting at the seams and I hope in my life time that I get to see the move to lambton happen. Not only will it be great for the sport of basketball, other sports will also benefit including volleyball, pickleball, futsal and more

Open ovals provide better opportunities for usage. Having easy access to open spaces encourages their use and is more accessible for many people to use the area
