HVO North Open Cut Coal Continuation Project

This is for the continual job opportunities and the economy for the Hunter Valley. I fully support this Operation continuing and maintaining the cash flow in the Hunter Valley. Many families will be impacted if this project is not given the opportunity to continue. More jobs means less people roaming around aimlessly and getting involved in illicit activities.

HVO supports the local community and provides direct employment for more than 1500 people. HVO contributes royalties and taxes to NSW and Australia vital for providing services.
The HVO extension project does not present any major changes to the scale or intensity of mining, or the planned annual production.
The project provides for long needed local infrastructure, such as the crossing of the Hunter River at Moses Crossing.
Through my employment as Regional Manager - NSW for Xenith Consulting, I am proud to support the HVO Project. HVO is an important client and we are privileged to support them in mining efficiently, safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.

My name is Callan Sheldon, and I am making this personal submission in strong support of the Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) North Contribution Project.

HVO North directly employs a large local workforce, sustaining hundreds of families across the Hunter Valley. These jobs are the backbone of our region, with wages flowing back into our communities through housing, schools, groceries, and day-to-day living.

The impact extends well beyond direct employment. Local suppliers, contractors, cafés, shops, and service providers all depend on the steady activity generated by HVO North. This ripple effect is vital in keeping main streets alive in towns such as Muswellbrook, Singleton, and Maitland.

With other large mines scheduled to close well before 2045, the continuation of HVO North provides the Hunter Valley with an essential economic anchor. Its operation through to 2045 secures not just direct jobs, but also the broader business and community stability our region depends on.

For these reasons, I strongly support approval of the Contribution Project.

This would support the industry I am employed in along with the rest of my family

The project has undertaken multiple steps to ever changing goals posts set in front of them.
