HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project

Hvo has been a crucial part of the Hunter Valley region for 35 years plus. They support local businesses and sporting organisations. Also are keeping people of the region employed. They continue to support the younger generation who will be there to support our future.

I support the HVO Continuation project.
As it will benefit both the community and industry.

I support the HVO extension project, as coal mines such as HVO have been critical to the economic growth of NSW and Australia. The world is slowly transitioning away from fossil fuels, however there is still high demand in Asia and further abroad. There also does not appear to be much of a plan to support these workers who have supported us for so long.

This is a valuable project for the local community and NSW/Australia as a whole.
This and other projects of the like need to be strongly supported by local, State and Federal Governments.

I'm in full support of this Operation to continue. This Operation has provided so many benefits to the communities in the Hunter valley and to allow it to continue will foster economic growth and more opportunities to the next generation. It also is the backbone of the NSW economy and the bolstered developments we're witnessing in Sydney and Newcastle. To stop it continuing would impact the livelihood of so many families who depend on this operation for their living.

I support this project

HVO supports the local community and provides direct employment for more than 1500 people. HVO contributes royalties and taxes to NSW and Australia vital for providing services.
The HVO extension project does not present any major changes to the scale or intensity of mining, or the planned annual production.
The project provides for long needed local infrastructure, such as the crossing of the Hunter River at Moses Crossing.
Through my employment as Regional Manager - NSW for Xenith Consulting, I am proud to support the HVO Project. HVO is an important client and we are privileged to support them in mining efficiently, safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.

We need to keep this mine open for the sake of the local community as well as the local and national economy.

The HVO continuation project is a low impact project that will enhance international trade and maintain the strength of the Hunter region economy.

HVO South is an essential contributor to the Hunter Valley’s economy and community. It directly employs a large number of local people, providing stable and well-paying jobs that sustain families across the region. These jobs are critical for household security and for keeping our communities strong.

The indirect impact of HVO South is just as significant. Local suppliers, contractors, tradespeople, cafés, and small businesses all rely on the economic activity generated by the mine. This ripple effect keeps businesses in Muswellbrook, Singleton, and surrounding towns alive and ensures the Hunter Valley remains a thriving regional economy.

At a time when other mines are expected to close sooner, HVO South provides the certainty and stability that our communities need. Its continuation will help secure both direct jobs and the small businesses that depend on them, anchoring the Hunter Valley’s economic future.

For these reasons, I strongly support approval of the Contribution Project.
