I have the usual complaints that other people have submitted as to noise pollution, dangers on the road, roads not suitable for haulage by so many trucks. My major concern is the ethics of the people running Daracon. It is clear that Daracon has not complied with the conditions at present in place at Martins Creek. This is obvious to people and inquiry should be made before any recommendation is made as to how many tonnes have been extracted not in accordance with their permission. People looking at this development consent should obtain such information from Daracon and the persons to whom material was provided particularly at the Hexham Rail site for train coal haulage. Also what should be taken into account is prior breaches by the Daracon group of companies. There is no evidence that they will comply with any conditions placed on them in running the operation at Martins Creek, but there is plenty of evidence to say that they will not. Investigation will show that they have not complied with the conditions imposed on their present consent. This is the only evidence available and it shows that it is more likely not that they will not comply with any fresh operating conditions and accordingly the ethics of the management of Daracon have shown that they are not fit and proper persons to be trusted to comply with any conditions placed on them and the development consent should be refused.

I oppose the Martins Creek Quarry Expansion.
I moved from Sydney to this area 25yrs ago. The quiet rural aspect is one of many attractions to living in the area.
I now live in the Vacy Village and can hear the workings of the quarry. So it is causing noise pollution already.
The trucks are a problem for the local community. I have had a windscreen replaced and already the new one has chips from rocks thrown up from the road and stones from the back of the truck. Several times I have had trucks traveling in the middle of the road and cars were not able to pass.
The shopping area at Paterson is suffering as the village could develop tourism and increase the economic state of the area.
I had a near death experience on the post office corner recently. A truck over steered the bend and come round on the opposite side of the road. He was within meters of my car and only that I reacted quick, Im sure he would have run straight over the top of me. I was traumatized after the event.
I am concerned for the elderly and the school buses with the trucks. The trucks on a time schedule and at times are pushing me along, what do the elderly suffer?
I think it is grossly unfair that the whole valley should have to suffer for the sake of one company, that aren't even local to the area.
The environmental impact is of great importance here too!
The Dungog Shire is of great importance as a semi-wilderness area. Due to the low development of industry. I believe the area should be conserved and a ecotourism industry develop.
The visual impact of the cleared and denuded land will leave scar that will take 50-100 years to repair. The shire is unique because development has been controlled to retain the vista of wilderness.
I believe the expansion will impede on the lifestyle of all those living in the surrounding area. With devaluing of property and real estate. So the local residents suffer loss at the gain for one company that is not even local ?
The increased risk to local peoples lives with the increase of traffic and trucks to the roads.
I recommend that a by pass road for the village of Paterson for the existing truck traffic and no further expansion of the quarry to be developed.

I believe that the proposed application is not in the best interest of the communities of Paterson, Butterwick,Woodville,Brandy Hill, Seaham, Hinton,Tocal.Bolwarra, Lorn and Largs just to mention a few. The increased trucking through these areas will create a nightmare for all residents for the following reasons, noise, dust, vibration and the size of the vehicles using narrow country/rural roads.
I fully endorse the submissions lodged by the community groups/committes of VOWW, BHAG and MCQAG.
The proponents have a rail facility and should be made to transport the majority of their product by rail.

I frequently visit Paterson because I enjoy the quiet rural village amenity.
It concerns me greatly that Daracon are seeking approval to increase extraction from the facility and transport the product via road.
The addition of 80 truck movements per hour through Paterson and Bolworra will have catastrophic impacts on the infrastructure and will result in a complete loss of amenity to these great historic villages and residential areas.
I request the Department of Planning to carry over existing consent conditions in any new approval that will require 70% of product to be transported by rail.
This will preserve the amenity of local communities and enable the proponent to extract the resource present for the greater good of the region and state.
