Kurnell is a place of significant history, both with Captain Cook and aboriginal, and we still continue to destroy it by industry, it is a national disgrace!

Asbestos is directly related to Asbestosis a chronic lung disease characterized by a scarring of lung tissues, which leads to long-term breathing complications. The disease does not have a cure.
It is caused exclusively by exposure to asbestos, and may not be diagnosed until decades after the exposure occurred.

Kurnell is no longer an isolated area it is a thriving community where many people go to enjoy: Fisherman, kite surfers, cyclists, runners, boaters, day trippers, bush walkers, skateboarders not to mention all the people who live here in Kurnell and in Cronulla

Caltex we don't want or need an asbestos treatment plant onsite. We don't need to become a dumping ground.

Mesothelioma, is a cancer caused by asbestos exposure,
The average life expectancy for a mesothelioma patient ranges from 12 to 21 months, depending on a variety of factors, such as the stage in which the patient was first diagnosed with the cancer. About 40 percent of mesothelioma patients survive one year, and 20 percent live more than two years.

Stop polluting Kurnell and our shire
No asbestos treatment plant Caltex.

I absolutely object to the further polluting of the area so close to my home and where my children are growing up, especially with such toxic material as asbestos. Asbestos kills! Go away Caltex! Do us a favour, dispose of your polluted soil in the proper means like everyone else and just build us a world class golf course and move on.. your time here has expired, find land away from waterways, marine life and humans. We put up with enough already, you've made Botany Bay one of the most dangerous places to live and I already fear what will happen if one day a terrorist decides to drop a bomb here. It will cripple our ports, no airport, no fuel, no transport. Give it up and just move on!

I believe that storing asbestos at the site is unfair to a community that has had enough carcinogenic waste to deal with for decades.
Is there a guarantee that this facility would not become a storage facility for asbestos waste from greater Sydney and beyond?
The tornado last December proved how susceptible our little suburb is to the industries we are surrounded by and the damage they an cause. If a severe storm where to damage this cell, or trucks on the road, or the immediate vicinity of the site Kurnell residents could be severely impacted.
Asbestos contamination would deem our homes unlivable, aside from the horrific health implications and loss of value in our properties.
Just for once could council, our government and industry put the health and well being of the residents of Kurnell ahead of the needs of industry.
