We have multiple options for energy production in Australia, many of which are green. There is no way that this CSG operation will not create massive destruction to the Pilliga area. The damage is unlikely to be contained to the area just around mining operations.
The land will never recover to be just as it is now, no matter how much money the mining company (grudgingly) throws at land rehabilitation. Somethings can be permanently lost.
This mining proposal is opposed by almost everyone in the area in which it would take place. Those people have much more claim to use of the land than a large company. The profits to be made go to a small number of already rich people, often overseas, whilst locals are devistated, financially and otherwise, and the land irretrievable.
I strongly object to this blatant and unnecessary money grab. The Pilliga land is not there for the profit of mining companies.

New South Wales is my home state and I am appalled the government is considering allowing this irreversible and irresponsible destruction of the artesian basin. Please listen to the people and put a halt to this senseless proposal.

I object to the Narrabri coal seam gas project for a wide variety of social, environmental and economic reasons. Firstly, this CSG project will be extremely detrimental to the water quality of the Great Asutralian basin which would have linked negative impacts across a huge region of our country. The clearing required for the project will have substantial negative impacts on the wildlife currently living in the Pilliga area, habitat loss is a key threat to native Australian animals. This project is not supported by Australian traditional owners of the land. The Pilliga region has significant cultural values associated to it and integrity of this ecosystem is of upmost importance to maintain that significance, for both ecological services and function, as well as cultural heritage reasons. Narrabri has a history of spillages of toxic cracked water and salt waste, being irresponsible handled and spoiling the surround environment. This practice also contributes to the serious threat of climate change, produces tons of spoil pollution and promotes the burning of fossil fuels- a practice that no longer should be exercised in Australia, as renewable options are affordable and available. This CSG project cannot go ahead if there is to be any of the Pilliga left for future generations to enjoy, not only will it destruct the environment but also has negative impacts on human health. It is not a long term economic investment, only offering finite, short term profit, an unsustainable and greedy project, a truly futile exercise. The destruction of this habitat also increases chance of worse bushfires, putting human lives, livestock and wildlife at risk of death and injury. I sincerely hope the Australian government does not allow this project to go ahead. Bonnie Nesbitt.

l do not understand why, with all of the information available to us today, that people still think that ruining the country for the sake of money is right. What is going to be left of this beautiful Earth by the time we finish? What is going to be here for your children, your grand children? Where are the animals and the trees going to be able to survive once you have ruined the natural flow of nature? WHY DO YOU NOT SEE THAT YOU ARE KILLING OUR EARTH? Please think about survival of our planet before the dollar. you can not survive on the dollar when nothing is left

I oppose this project.

As a resident of NSW, I find the risks to ecosystems and water supplies required by this project to be unacceptable.

As a Christian, I am concerned about the fact that the profits from such projects go to a few, while the risks are spread across all of us, especially those least able to afford them.

I object to the inappropriate influence by major energy companies on public policy.

As an Australian, I am deeply concerned that this project is against the wishes of the traditional owners of the land, the Gamilaraay people.

I believe it is our duty to pass on to future generations a planet that has been cared for to the best of our ability. All fossil fuel projects destabilise the climate, destroy ecosystems, undermine food security, and endanger the habitability of the planet we all share, but coal seam gas projects are especially damaging to the environment.

I do not support the destruction and pollution of precious water sources such as the artesian basin. I fear our country being damaged by gas mining. The local community and aboriginal custodians of the area are clearly opposed to the development of gas mining in any part of the area. Destruction of famous and precious wilderness for the purpose of energy production that is toxic and unsustainable is not acceptable. I want to support energy sources that aim to have little impact on the environment and wildlife of our country and that are sustainable into the future. I want my children to inherit a country and home that is not poisoned by short term thinking and destructive processes. I do not want csg mining anywhere. Especially in areas that are ecologically significant such as this.

Any attempt at mining into the ground is a spit in the face of evidence that human kind no longer needs these methods to be used to source power. Therefore it is a shameless pursuit of profit at the expense of human kind,

Seriously, you're destroying our environment for profit? You disgust me and disgust anyone who has any basic understanding of why we need to not destroy flora and fauna for an outdated method of obtaining fuel resources.

The attitude Santos has towards the farmers, local people and animals is disgusting and they should look at their ethics in their business dealings.

I wish to be in support of the people protesting against Santos and the mining of this beautiful, natural enviroment. I detest the damage we are doing to this planet and the lack of respect for the people trying to protect it for future generations. I firmly believe it is about time humans tried to live with the enviroment moreso than just off of it. Mining in areas like this is insane. Please stop santos from doing this and let the community of people who care about it and for it, do that.

You a poisoning the earth. Please I beg that you invest in renewable energy. I am 20 years old and I am so worried about the state of the world. Money has corrupted our government, why else would you not invest in green energy?

I object to the Santos CSG project in the Pillaga for the following reasons, among others:

The Narrabri Gas Project has a long history of spills and leaks of toxic CSG water--Santos cannot be trusted to manage the project safely.

Coal seam gas fuels climate change.

The Narrabri Gas Project risks precious water sources, including the Great Australian Basin--Australia's largest groundwater aquifer.

We must protect this land from CSG, and we must leave fossil fuels in the ground and invest in alternative sources of energy that don't exacerbate climate change further.

How can the government approve this with everything we know. Have some strength and invest in renewable options which will not kill us. We elect you to think 50-100 years ahead not for today. Oh and santos have such a great record with the environment... not.
