I am a long term resident in the area and as a single parent of 3 children rely on the extra income twice yearly to pay off bills and catch up. If I didn't have this opportunity I would no doubt be forced to leave the area where my children have grown up and attend school. These festivals are such an important employment opportunity for this community where employment is a constant struggle to attain and is so seasonal. Not everyone has the financial backing to operate full time businesses in the Byron area due to the high rents.
I believe North Byron Parklands to integral to this community in terms of the employment the festivals offer.
