SAE Institute supports the application from Billinudgel Property Pty Ltd for development consent to enable the permanent use of the North Byron Parklands Cultural Events Site for events with up to 50,000 patrons.
SAE Institute also supports the separate modification request (MP 09_0028 MOD 3 Concept Plan) to modify the existing Concept Plan Approval for the Cultural Events Site to facilitate its ongoing use.
SAE Institute delivers accredited VET and Higher Education programs to about 10,000 students in 28 countries across a range of creative media disciplines including audio, film, animation, design, web/mobile and games. In Australia, SAE delivers programs at six campuses - Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Byron Bay.
SAE Byron Bay plays a major role in educating approximately 250 aspiring creatives and entrepreneurs. It is also one of the region's largest employers, with over 60 staff, and is the head office for our Southern hemisphere SAE operations which include campuses in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and South Africa.
SAE Byron Bay works closely with local industry and peak bodies to inform curriculum, and has a reputation for developing work-ready graduates - many of whom have established successful, locally based creative media businesses.
We have long advocated for the permanent use of the North Byron Parklands Cultural Events Site for events. Hands-on experience are at the core of SAE's teaching and learning philosophy, and North Byron Parklands provides unique and valuable work placement and internship opportunities for many of our students and graduates. Further, we believe these events provide valuable local employment opportunities, enhance the cultural fabric of our community and position the region as a renowned and respected host of internationally acclaimed festivals.
In summary, we believe North Byron Parklands provides unrivalled economic, employment and cultural benefits to the region. These include:
*Providing a cultural hub for locals

*Building on the region's reputation as a creative epicentre

*Encouraging community engagement in locally driven initiatives

*Providing an outdoor space for emerging creatives, community groups and
associations to reach local and wider audiences

*Encouraging participation in artistic and cultural endeavours

*Increasing local employment opportunities

*Providing aspiring creatives with opportunities to get hands on experience in
event management, marketing, design, film, audio etc.
*Providing a venue to showcase local superstars

*Building a vibrant, healthy, engaged community

*Supporting local businesses that demonstrate quality, entrepreneurship and
success.

Importantly, North Byron Parklands also enables SAE to incorporate local case studies in curriculum, and helps the Institute to attract local, national and international creatives to our masterclass programs.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge North Byron Parklands as a local business backed by international experience and expertise, employing locally based experts with a proven track record in music, promotion, law, finance & environmental science. The organisation has demonstrated its commitment to work WITH the community and FOR the community.
