I am totally opposed to the rocky Hill Coal project for many reasons.
1. the proposed coal mine is way too close to Forbesdale for any comfortable living to be possible for the residents, due to dust, noise, traffic etc.
2. The health impacts to those residents, and residents further afield in Gloucester are simply not acceptable.
There is no safe level for coal dust inhalation. To subject the residents to personal levels of health problems is in-conscionable.
3. the economic drain to all NSW tax-payers for the health impacts is unjustified.
4. The Gloucester valley is one of the most stunning valleys in NSW. An open-cut coal mine will severely impact on its natural beauty and there-fore its tourism value.
The mine will last 21 years the scar will last for ever.
5. If the world is to reach the target of keeping global warming within 2 degrees no new coal mines can be built. NSW must start to act as a responsible world citizen.
kind regards
Peggy Fisher
