Dear Sir / Madam,
RE: Smithfield Recycling Centre Application Number: SSD-19425495
We are one of the worst-case noise recipients, in Vale Street, Woodpark, of traffic noise from the Cumberland Highway as:
• Our property borders it,
• The current noise wall is only 1 metre (approximately) above the floor level of our dwelling, whereas the wall is at or above the roof line of some other dwellings in our street and
• Separate and prior to this proposed development the Roads and Maritime Services has previously identified the proposed traffic lights for another planned development on the other side of the Cumberland Highway, opposite our property, will result in an increase in noise. One can only assume that this noise will be further exacerbated by the increase in noise from this proposed development (SSD-19425495).
We have been identified as a neighbouring land owner to the proposed development (SSD-19425495). We object to the application on the grounds of the amount of noise that will be generated by the increased amount of heavy vehicle traffic. Should the application go ahead we would like to see measures put in place to mitigate the increase in noise.
We are at a loss to comprehend how many trucks will be needed to initially transport 150,000 tonnes per annum of recyclables to the warehouse identified in the proposed development and equally how many trucks will then be needed to remove the six categories of sorted materials, as listed in the proposal, in order to transport them to the dedicated reprocessing facilities.
Please advise what steps will be taken to protect us from the resultant 24 hours a day, 7 days a week noise pollution, air pollution and, to a lesser extent, visual pollution from the trucks transporting this huge amount of material both to and from the warehouse.
We acknowledge and accept the Department’s disclaimer and declaration.
Best regards,
Affected land owners
