I object to the rezoning of the Crows Nest Metro site.
The corrupt arrangement between the state owned Metro Corporation and
the department of planning is now blatantly clear, as you ignore Local
Council assessments and height restrictions that have served the Crows
Nest area to make it the attractive valuable village you now seek to
exploit and subsequently change for the negative in exchange for a
short minded, once off financial return. The local community will be
stuck with the consequences for ever. As if your value capture
strategy wasn't bad enough, as you build a station where it is not
needed (we are so close to North Sydney metro station its laughable).
You have the temerity to not even follow good sense and make the
development commercial instead of residential. The vibrancy of Crows
Nest is not built on residential traffic to the village alone, it is
mostly built on commercial daytime (lunch) traffic that sustains
restaurants year round. The very thing that makes this site an
opportunity for residential developers you are exploiting, will be
slowly removed as the area changes based on the precedent you are
allowing to be set by having such high rise so close to the village
(which is more than just a short section of Willoughby Rd by the way).
By replacing jobs with residences Crows Nest village will die due to a
lack of daytime trade. You will forever be remembered as the
government that put ideology (of financial management) before good
decision making and communities. Its not always a good idea, just
because private developers are keen to be involved. Start thinking
outside your limited framework and listen to the community.
